If you are looking for great tasting Costa Rican food, I suggest visiting this place. Healthy portions and one of the best steaks I have ever had. Stay away from the touristy places of La Fortuna and take the ten minute drive along the main road around the volcano to this gem.

Words can't describe. We were instantly met with water and cold mint vanilla scented towels. The table side guacamole was worth writing home about, and amazing wine. The meal itself was in a word epic. Topped off with a flambe banana dessert. The atmosphere was perfect, live music and globe lighting, and the staff was extremely helpful and kind. Couldn't be better.

On our third night in Costa Rica we found cascajados on trip advisory and decided to try it. It is very close to hotel Tabacon. It was the best food thus far on our trip. The sea bass was unbelievable. Our waiter Uriel took great care of us and spoke good English. He definitely helped with our experience. I asked him if the sea bass was locally cot. The people eating at the table next to us told us that they had just witnessed the truck delivering the fresh fish. We are going back on day four!

Fast, friendly, great food, coffee was excellent, brewed fresh table side, would strongly recommend if near the lakes, hiking or hanging bridges...

The ceviche is one of the best. Prepared from corvina and made with the mandarin lemon (a kind of lime that is common in Costa Rica) plus the aroma of the cilantro, and the tanginess of the onion give it a smooth flavor that is difficult to find elsewhere. Ceviches can be too acidic, but this one is just well balanced. I had also the Cascajo chicken, which is a generous portion of cordon blue-kind of chicken stuffed with cheese and with a tasty tomato sauce that was delightful. Mostly the staff is very accommodating and want to help, accomplishing a pleasant experience in these unpretentious surroundings that is worth more than its modest prices would make you think. Try it when in the area
