“Untouched Natural Area”

We went on a tour with Swiss Tours that took us to Palo Verde National Park and the Rio Tempisque. It was a wonderful half day trip that included the highlight, a boat trip on the Rio Tempisque. We saw and abundance of different birds, long nose bats sleeping on a tree, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, many igauanas, Jesus Christ lizards and a multitude of American crocodiles. Our boat driver Santos and tourguide Arturo did a great job of maximizing our time on the river.

“Rancho Los Coyotes”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

Awesome stop off in the Palo Verde National Park. HIdden gem...the ladies fixed the best, authentic meal and showed us around the ranch and the animals. Javier (from lovingcostarica.com) knows all the stops and teaches us so much about the culture and people of CR.
We got a demonstration of how they hand make the pottery. They use the colors of the clay from the earth (no painting here). It was awesome!
I have added this to my list of reviews so anyone who likes to see things "off the beaten path" this is it!!

“Falcon Tours”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

I recently visited the Riu Palace in Costa Rica. We booked our tours through Falcon Tours. You can find the tour salesman on the beach. Our salesman was Caeser and he is the BEST. Tour specifics were just as he described. Falcon Tours is reputable and professional. Their vans are immaculate and comfortable. I highly recommend this tour facilitated by Falcon Tours.

“Excellent bird watching”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

We enjoyed Palo Verde and saw a range of birds, howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, iguanas, and crocs. Most tours take you in a boat on the Tempisque River, but try to find a tour that leaves early and takes you into one of the tributaries, assuming the water is deep enough. We had no problem with mosquitos but the water may be brown with runoff from rain. The trees are really amazing, too. Generally a half-day tour is sufficient. Most tours go to Guatil for pottery tour/shopping, but we did that separately.

“Tempiste river cruise”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

Make sure the cruise last as long as advertised. Our captain was very nice and pointed out all the different birds, iguanas, famous trees and crocodile. Very pleasant cruise as we were the only ones on the boat. A long track to get there but on the way to the river we saw a few animals: coatis crossing our road, monkeys in trees, birds and ducks.
