I spent one night at Orosi Lodge in April 2012. The hotel is nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is good, welcome excellent. Rooms on the upper floor are cosy and have a view on Turralbia and Irazu volcanos ... but above the roofs of ther houses of this small town. Beds are excellent. A good place to go.

While checking in, we noted that the German owner is not really interested in his guest. He mainly took care of his dogs and explained us the local attractions in a rush. The rooms are clean and well maintained - however the rooms are not well isolated from each other. Therefore, expect to hear the noices from all the other guests.

Once arrived in the morning at breakfast two minutes too early, the German owner told us that they are true Germans and won't serve the breakfast prior to 7am. We were not even allowed to sit down at one of his places. We both agreed that this was truly bad services and left immediately.

I therefore do not recommend staying in this lodge!

Dear Quinto Berlin,

having read the 4 reviews you posted here on trip advisor, it seems to me that everywhere you go, you seem to have a problem with bad service or bad management. I truly hope that some day you will find a place that makes you happy.
Just remember : wherever you travel - you always bring yourself ...Good luck !

We stayed in the new chalet for few days which was perfect. The German owners are very professional and they organized all the activities for us. They were all amazing : visit of a coffea factory + thermal pool, rafting, Irazu, Cartago. Thanks to them we found a reliable and friendly taxi driver who drove us to Puerto Viejo. Nevertheless there were two drawbacks : as we were in the chalet we had to be very careful about locking our doors. It was long to lock everything and not very reassuring. The second drawback is the two huge dogs which watched the hotel. We were very afraid and we did not dare to go to the garden because of them.
Otherwise it was a very pleasant journey and we recommend this place.

Hi there,

Thank you so much for your nice review; we are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and all the activities in the Orosi Valley !
I am sorry that our dogs made you a little uncomfortable - they are real sweethearts once you get to know them ;-)
I just wanted to point out that they do not have any access to the hotel grounds or the Chalet; they are always in the private garden of our home.

Hope to see you again in Orosi - best regards !
Andreas

We visited for one night in February. Orisi lodge was not part of our original trip but was recommended to us by another lodge that we stayed at.
The hotel is impeccably clean, well run and the breakfasts (extra cost) are really excellent.
The Lodge is conveniently situated for Trapanti park and within striking distance of volcan's and other attractions.
They do the best orange juice in Costa Rica.

One gripe: Unfortunately the lower floor rooms suffer significantly from the noise of the rooms above. We couldn't help but hear every word of the conversations going on above and their every movement (they were not being particularly loud) seemed amplified. That said if I could get a second floor room I would not hesitate to book here again.

Room Tip: A second floor room is highly preferrable.

We stayed at Orosi Lodge for our first night in Costa Rica. The place felt special from the beginning as the Lodge is terraced up a steep hillside, looking more like someone's home than a hotel. We were greeted warmly in the pleasant lobby/cafe and shown quickly to our room by a very friendly staffer. As this was the cheapest room in our entire trip we expected less than we got. The room had a nice bathroom with instant hot water from a tank-less heater, a kitchenette, comfortable bed and a great view of the valley and the volcanos on the other side. We chose Orosi Lodge because it is close to the village's restaurants and convenient to national parks. But we will go back there because of the special treatment by the owners. After we were far away from Orosi we discovered that we had left our guidebook behind in the lobby. We emailed the lodge and we pleasantly surprised to hear that they had found our book, which they mailed to us back in the USA at a cost to them of 7550 Colones! These folks are truly special (and trilingual in English, Spanish and German). Gary A.

Hi,
My wife and I booked this trip to Costa Rica. After weeks of planning we arrived on February 4, 2012 and stayed at the Orosi Lodge. Upon our arrival we were greated by the owner who was friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and had the european touch. The view from our second floor room was just outstanding as we could see the high mountains that surround the town.
We had a wonderful breakfast at the lodge. I must say I loved the fresh baked bread and butter that was served!
A quarter of a mile was the hanging bridge and in not far to the entrance to the Tapanti Nacional park. Along the road we picked some coffee beans and took pictures of the beauty of the area. All and all we had a great time and the Orosi Lodge is the best accommodation in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a second floor room as long as you don't mind walking up a flight of steps. The view is...

Orosi lodge is tucked into the side of the mountain and is still in town. It has many colorful and cozy details as well as lovely aromas of fresh coffee, pastries and delicious sandwiches. The bistro tables sit next to the open front that looks out over the town and the mountains. Our room was up the stairs with an incredible view, in the morning before clouds rolled in the active Turrialba volcano was visible puffing clouds of smoke. The room was spacious, small kitchen area with a sink, mini fridge and counter and local coffee provided with a coffee maker. The bed was comfortable with cozy comforters and the bathroom good sized with a nice hot shower. The owners are concerned with your needs and comfort and also fun and interesting to talk to, they have much experience with travel and are very knowledgeable about Costa Rica and the area of the lodge. The town is quiet with several fresh produce markets and bakeries and a few places to eat all available to walk to from the lodge. We were staying on a Saturday night and the local bar was having a bull riding contest, this was alot of fun to experience the music and all of the local people. The drive around the area is gorgeous and we did tour a family owned local organic coffee farm - this was one of our favorite experiences. Very happy that we chose orosi lodge!
