“Great tour and lovely place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2014

The worst part was trying to find this place. Our gps just couldn't get us there, and maps don't seem to exist in this part of the country. So after some very creative navigating and driving, we did finally arrive. But once we got there, it was wonderful. We had some time before our tour started, so I visited the butterfly garden (beautiful!!) and my husband sat and enjoyed sampling the coffee. The tour was very informative and fun. It would have been much better if we had come during picking season when things were in full swing, but we still enjoyed it a lot. (Picking season goes from October until early March, and we missed it by a couple of weeks) We also saw lots of birds and beautiful plants and trees on the property. Everyone was very helpful and nice. We sampled and bought lots of great coffee!

“Good place for a tour group/great coffee”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2014

Went as part of a group, but the tour was interesting. The place was pretty, and the coffee was fantastic. Brought back lots of coffee, etc.

Tour took us through processing plant, and to see some actual plants-in-the-ground, but we didn't go away from the main building much.

Clean bathrooms, nice attractions, tour guide spoke English well, and great coffee.

“Nice Tour”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2014

As with most Costa Rican tours you will not be going out in the middle of the fields to see what is done. They have a little "tour" of seedlings- to a bean sprout- to a plant to a one year old row of maybe 8 plants in the ground, so you can see how the plants are developed. You do go through the processing plant step by step. And of course the gift shop where you get a discount price.
Coffee to sample.

“Beautiful Property and Informative Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2014

Our flight was late getting into San Jose so by the time we got our car and drove to Doka (we also got lost!), the last tour was over. HOWEVER, they were SO nice and showed us around and gave us an individual mini-tour. We got to watch a short film, see how the beans are washed, dried and roasted. We enjoyed tasting several blends and bought some in the gift shop ($8/pound). Peaberry was the one my husband loved. It is made of the beans that have one bean in the berry. The gardens on the property are beautiful. There is also an open air restaurant, butterfly garden and orchid garden. The flowers were amazing. But most of all, everyone working there was so friendly.

As we were leaving, we saw a police car and asked them if they could give us directions to our hotel (which was about 30 minutes away near Poas Volcano). They said to follow them and they would get us on the right road (though they didn't speak English!). They escorted us for TWENTY MINUTES until we were on the main road to the hotel!!!! How nice was that? That is so typical of the friendly Costa Rican people!
