We stayed 2 nights in February, the perfect place to stop after a 14 hour flight from the UK, 45 minutes from the airport. We were very well looked after from our arrival to our departure, the food was freshly prepared and wonderfully cooked, Mark and Oliver the perfect hosts.
Our room was very cosy (it gets cold up there) and beds very comfortable.
The main thing, though, is the view. Day and night, the changing scene through big picture windows in the dining area and the bedrooms constantly grabs your attention. You can lie in bed at night and watch the stars above and the constellation of lights in the valley below. When you are eating, there are always hummingbirds feeding on the nectar feeders, feet away from you.
A footnote - the hotel is for sale, and so the situation that Mark and Oliver have carefully created may change - but the view won't!

We stopped here on the way back from volcano poas. What a treat! We had a few drinks and enjoyed the view. Wish we would have booked the rooms but they were already taken. Thanks for the short but well worth it stop. Coffee and drinks were great!

Stayed one night here before catching a flight home. The view was breathtaking day and night. I can just sit and watch the clouds rolling in and out the valley and the hummingbirds flying in and out all day long. Best sunset! Dinner was big portioned and tasty. Breakfast were fresh fruits, toasts, coffee and juice buffet style with egg options as you like it. We shared a yummy omelet and the size was perfect for two. We made a reservation online for room 1 but was given #2 which kinda stuck in the middle. However, the view was still nice and it was quite at night. Comfy bed and cute decors. Very close to Poas Volcano park and 45 minutes drive to the airport.

Room Tip: Room #2 is in the middle between 1 and 3 but still feels privacy. I liked that I was sleeping next t...

We stayed here in January 2013 and we were welcomed into a warm cozy environment from the cold drizzling rain. We too loved the hosts and the friendly dog 'girl'. The food was excellent (my husband still raves about the hamburger) and the rooms were simple & clean with amazing views. The weather here is veer changing...within an hour you will see sun, rain, wind & fog. I would definitely stay here again!

Panoramic views, great food and cozy rooms await you once you enter the front door. The hosts, Mark and Oliver transformed the visit. They were so welcoming and hospitable, we felt like we were meeting old friends. A must stay for anyone wanting an excellent experience.
Only one complaint - we should have stayed longer!!!

This is such a cozy place. It doesn't look great from the outside but take a seat in the lounge by the fire and enjoy the panoramic view. The rooms are basic but very comfortable, bathrooms pretty old looking but we had hot water. The food and service are good.
Poas Lodge is the ideal place to stay to go to the Poas volcano as it is only 5 minutes up the road.
Very nice managers, very knowledgeable about the area.

Room Tip: all rooms have a wonderful view

We had no trouble finding this little gem. Mark and Oliver were great hosts, along with their sweet dog, Girl. The views are fantastic. Our evening meal might have been the best food we had during our vacation. The fireplace and blankets in the dining area made us quite comfortable (so did the very generous pours of wine!) Wish we could have stayed longer.
