We did a 8 am guided tour. I'm glad we went early, as it did get crowded later in the day. It was raining, (it's a rain forest!) but we were prepared. Our guide "Ignacio" was excellent. We would not have seen any of the wildlife without him. The rain kept most of the birds from flying, but we did see several snakes, frogs, lizards, an owl, a couple of mot mots and a sloth (from very far away). Ignacio told us about the types of trees sloths like and that helped us find one on our own later in the trip. I agree the place has a bit of a theme park feel to it, but I thought the tour was a good introduction to the flora and fauna. The footing was great for the weather - we did some hiking on our own later in our trip and there was some mud - even in the "dry season". The bridges were not too scary for a chicken like myself!
