First and foremost, the people at Magic Mountain Hotel are awesome! Very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Frazier, Jaisen and Fran were more than accommodating to our group.....we felt like friends when we left. The rooms were a little dated, and the lighting wasn't great, but they were clean and comfortable beds. The grounds are beautiful, the view spectacular and walking distance to town...........we would come back to Magic Mountain for sure

Room Tip: The junior suites are nice...

We stayed 2 nights as part of a tour. The hotel, rooms, pools, gardens are all well maintained and clean. The view of the volcano from the balcony, as the sun was rising, was beautiful. With-in short walking distance, there are a variety of little shops and restaurant/bars. Staff were friendly and attentive. This is a good central home base for touring around the northern countryside.

This was a nice hotel. Rooms are sparse but adequate. The pool is beautiful with a view of the volcano. The breakfast was good. Furtuna is a small town and this hotel is not walking distance to the town. We were on a tour and stayed here 2 nights. We were happy with the room and free wifi. It is by no means a luxury hotel however it is a pleasant place to hang out by the pool and view the volcano. It's a good value for the money

Room Tip: The higher floors have a better view.

Nice hotel with friendly staff in a quiet area. Every room has a beautiful view of Arenal volcano with a balcony on the same side. The grounds and pool area are nicely kept. There is a separate pool bar with warmer water and stools with happy hour 2 for 1 from 5 to 7 pm. There are two Jacuzzis, though only one we found to be really hot and only during the day. It did feel great though.

There is a Magic Bar upstairs that has karaoke on Fridays. A really good restaurant for the complimentary breakfast buffet. The pancakes are actually edible at this one and they have good black beans and rice.

Only a 15 min walk to town down hill, though taxi ride is only $4. A short walk to pizza, Costa Rican food, and wood shops.

Only

Room Tip: Couldn't find a King bed room, but had two Queens. All rooms seem to be good and quiet and elevators are available if you don't want to use stairs.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a Caravan tour. I was on the 2nd floor with a killer view of the Arenal Volcano. Room was nice enough, although the bathroom was basic and visitors were told not to flush toiler paper. You had to put used TP in a little garbage can near the toilet which would be emptied by hotel staff. Pretty creepy.

Although internet access was available for free at a lobby computer, I had to try several e-mail addresses before I could send an e-mail. What should have taken 5 minutes took 40.

Buffet breakfast was terrible...no yogurt, no papaya and no take-away fruit. Also, hot offerings were limited and the cereal selection was merely cornflakes and some other low-fiber stuff.

On the plus side, there is a supermarket to the right of the hotel, about a 10-minute walk.

Room Tip: Go for a 2nd floor room for privacy and a better volcano view.
