We initially had some issues with the women at the front desk who was not terribly helpful when she informed us that we would have to wait 3 hours to get into our room. After a pleasant lunch and a 40 minute wait where we saw other guests get room after room ours was finally ready. The room had a beautiful view and was very nice. We spent alot of time at the pools which were surprisingly quite and the bar staff was always friendly. The free farm tour offered by the hotel is a must! Alfredo was very knowledgeable and tons of fun but without him i never would have known about the other tour options in the area because the front desk staff did not offer any assistance and the concierge desk was always empty. The rooms lacked any kind of information regarding the benefits of the hotel and when it was raining our last night and we wanted to order room service there was no menu and the person we were transferred too didn't really speak English. When the food arrived it was the incorrect order but since we didn't really know if what we ordered was even available for dinner we didn't complain. As others have noted the walls between the rooms are very thin and the metal roofs were very loud when it rained, that paired with poor lighting made it impossible to do much inside the hotel room at night. Although we were not there to watch TV the one in the room was very small and high up so we couldn't' really see or hear it when we tried to watch it.

My wife and 2 childen spent 3 nights. Its is a very nice hotel, great room, stunning views. However....the resturant is another story. While the dining area was stunning, dinner was poor, served warm-not hot, and overcooked. When I complained to the manager, he blew me off. Totally ignored me. La Fortuna is a 10$ taxi ride away with great food. The breakfast was ok, but they cheaped out on the fruit and other items we found at every hotel we stayed at in Costa Rica. While this hotel was ok, it lacks any character, and has a multi national corporation type feel to it. Like a condo complex in Arizona or Orlando. I would not stay here again.

The hotel is set up as villas on the side of a hill. Every room has a view of the volcano. The rooms were amazing. We loved the bed looking through the sliding glass doors to the volcano. The rocking chairs on the porches were a nice touch. They were also very private. I woke up every morning to humming birds and toucans. The grounds were tropical and well manicured. The main building and pool were about a 5 min walk so so we would call for a golf cart to come bring us to the restaurant and pool. The pool is fed by hot springs from the volcano. The tours in the area were unforgettable. We did zip lining, canyoning, caving and hiked up the volcano. An AMAZING Vacation!

We traveled with 3 children (6, 5, and 12) and this was the perfect location. The location and view as great and the staff was very helpful in arranging activities. This was a perfect base for zip lining and hiking. Pool and lunch were good for a mid-afternoon break.

My husband and I traveled with our son and his six-year-old daughter. We rented a car in Liberia and drove to La Fortuna and the Arenal Manoa. We were warmly welcomed and that was just the beginning of a good stay for the four days we were there. The property is very spacious and spread out, the room was quite ample in terms of space. The front porch with rocking chairs and a perfect view of Arenal Volcano was delightful. The grounds are lush and very nicely kept. The breakfast buffet was quite good and varied. We had dinner at the hotel the first night. The meal was good, the service was not as attentive as we might have expected and it was not extremely friendly. We found the service a bit lacking at the pool bar as well. Other that these two little service glitches, we had a perfect stay and highly recommend Arenal Manoa.

Be careful when booking through a discount website as it was 50% more than the nightly rate offered to the public! When expressed disappointment nobody cared! Hotel show a laundromat but you can´t do it yourself. Expensive! Advertised Wi Fi in the rooms didn´t work. It took 15 minutes to get a 2 for one happy hour drink at the bar and the bartender was pretty cranky.

Management response:Responded June 28, 2012

Dear Lisa,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review, and I am so sorry to hear that your experience with the booking process and some other aspects related to your stay were disappointing. Although, we don’t fully understand what the promo inconvenience was.

On the other hand, self-service laundry facilities are not provided in the hotel. Concerning the additional comments, we take all guest feedback very seriously, and we're constantly improving all aspects of our service and facilities. We even use online reviews to retrain employees, so rest assured that we will study carefully our next promotions on the web and the service response time, so that this trouble won't happen in the future. I hope you will consider staying with us again so that we can demonstrate the level of service that we are known for. If you do plan to be in the area again, please contact me directly by asking for the general manager and I will personally oversee your stay.

Thank you!

Hotel is located down a gravel road which was nice as there was no traffic noise. Room was nice size with a great view of Arenal volcano from our patio. Grounds were beautiful. Pool very nice. People friendly. We did not have a car but no problem taxi arranged for us whenever we needed it. They can arrange any tours you would like. Restaurant was nice, good breakfast but other meals average with an above average price. Rooms are dublex but private. Our issue came when the people in the other side of our duplex decided to have a loud party which lasted into the night. Walls are very thin. We called the front desk but they only have a security guard at night and he didn't understand English. I talked with the front office staff the next day and they stated he had not followed procedure which was to call office staff to determine problem. I'm glad it was just noise and not a medical emergency!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a full view of the volcano. We saw that some rooms had the bedroom and patio fac...
