Hotel El Silencio del Campo

My husband and I chose Hotel El Silencio del Campo for a two night stay in La Fortuna. This place was beyond anything we expected. The villas are huge! And very clean, in fact so are the entire grounds. We enjoyed our stay in villa # 17. After a great Hike up cerro chato, we spent a few hours in the very nice and clean hot springs at this hotel. We didn't feel it was worth spending 70$ each to visit other hot springs as this place was all we could ask for. Breakfast was delicious, we had nice fresh fruit and pancakes every morning. We met Jose, the bartender, he's very pleasant and fun to talk to. he's very good at was he does, knows his drinks! We we're very surprised and pleased to be greeted in French by Alberto at the front desk at check in. I would recommend this place to anyone. It is clean, calm, and in a great location, close to everything ( we had a car which made it very easy to drive to and from restaurants and activities)

Not your typical hotel... the Hotel El Silencio os a villa in the countryside with Arenal volcano at your doorstep. I stayed at Hotel El Silencio with my brother, sister-in-law, niece (6), and nephew (10) over the Christmas holiday and absolutely loved it.

All of our excursions (zip-lining, hot springs, horseback riding) were within 30 mins of the villa, which made it easy for us to go out and come back home for a R&R.

They also had a little farm where they would get eggs and fresh milk, which made it to our breakfast table every morning... a truly farm-to-table. They even let the us try milking the cow for a bit and pick the eggs from the coop, a new experience for all of us.

My best friend and I traveled to Costa Rica in August and stayed here for 6 nights. This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff are incredibly helpful and so kind. We had a wonderful time. The grounds are beautiful, the food is good, the spa is fantastic. We both had a facial and a massage. The hot springs are really nice. When we got there, they weren't very warm, but a few days later they were drained, cleaned, and refilled and they were HOT (in a good way). Overall, this is a fabulous destination. I can't wait to return and I will stay here again. A couple of tips: my friend and I are both females in our early 30's. We rented a car and explored the country. The driving is fine, as long as you know how to use a 4 wheel drive. I felt sorry for people who were dependent on tour companies and taxis to pick them up and take them places. We never felt unsafe and having a car was the best decision we made! You MUST MUST MUST go to Rio Celeste if you are capable of a moderate hike. It was the best part of our trip, and the staff at Hotel El Silencio Del Campo helped us figure out how to get there.

Room Tip: Select a room at the back of the property- better wifi and close to the hot springs.

My family stayed at Hotel Silencio del Campo for 3 nights in December . We had a private cabina on the grounds of the hotel , which were filled with lush gorgeous plants, colorful birds, and hot, warm, and cool pools fed by the hot springs . The staff was warm and welcoming, the breakfast , lunch, and happy hour food and drinks excellent (order off of the lunch menu at dinner), and the trips off site were terrific. We had a view of the Arenal Volcano from our cabina. Amazing !

We spent 3 nights at El Silencio over New Years and it was incredible! The location is beautiful, very well maintained and very exotic. Someone mentioned it looks like the show Lost and it really does. The location is great - 5 minutes drive to town and 10 minutes drive to the base of Arenal. Since it was New Years, I also liked that the night club Volcan Look Disco was literally a 5 minute walk!

The cabins: they are well designed except for a small flaw - there is no handle on the front door of the cabin so you can't close the door from the outside without having to lock it. This is a nuisance when you just want to sit on your patio. Our cabin had a mini fridge which came in handy.

The hot springs: they are 5 hot springs in the back of the location and a pool in the middle. The pool is not heated so a but chilly. It might explain why I didn't see anyone in it when I was there. The hot springs are gorgeous and there is a bar located in the middle (they make amazing daiquiris!). What I didn't like was the water in the hot springs were, well, not hot. It was nice during the day when sunny but at night it wasn't so good. It would of better if the temperature was warmer. You aren't suppose to bring your own drinks down but we snuck in a few beer in our bag and found a hot spring which no one was in.

Breakfast is included every morning at the restaurant it was delicious! At least a $20 value per person! I had Huevos Rancheros two days in a row they were that good.

The only other thing that I didn't like is the hotel really does feel like a spa environment which is great. Except it's not. And you will remember this when you see / hear the million kids around and in the hot springs. If this was adults only I would of paid more!

Oh and we got massages at the spa - I highly recommend. Even more beautiful area which can only be used by spa guests and the massage was one of the best spa experiences in my life. They even offer a tea service after your session which was amazing.

All of the other hotels in the area seemed way too busy so I loved this place and would come back for sure. If you ask me its the best kept secret in the area! Why pay $60 to go to a hot spring when its included in the price of the hotel?

Room Tip: Check out the spa - worth every dollar and ask for a cabin closer to the hot springs. # 19 or # 20 w...

Our family of 9 enjoyed 3 nights at El Silencio. It was a beautiful and well maintained resort in a perfect location for trips to Arenal Volcano, White Water Rafting, and the city of La Fortuna. The staff was wonderful, the rooms were clean and spacious, and we loved having our own hot springs at the resort. No need for the craziness of one of the crowded hot springs. We could relax in almost total privacy in one of several springs on the property. My children loved having the opportunity to milk a cow and collect chicken eggs at the farm on the property. Every member of the staff was wonderful. We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a base in the La Fortuna Area.

The staff is absolutely fantastic and the facilities are great with hot springs and private rooms with no adjoining noise. WE have older kids (19-24) and they absolutely loved the place. For those with younger kids they even have a working farm where you can help collect eggs or milk cows.
A big shout out to Jose, who's office is the hot springs bar. What a job he does and the advice he gives on local activities is equally fantastic. You even see him at breakfast serving a fantastic start to the day
We travel a lot and this experience was really really good. IMO you will not find any better value for money in La Fortunal
