Yet again your reviews lead us right , we chose this based on Tripadvisor and the fact we wanted a smaller hotel with a more friendly feel.
Each villa is separate and set apart enough that you don't really notice your neighbours , you must choose your room based your preference.
We chose the back of the property but even this is only a couple of minutes walk from reception and the are car parks at 3 points down the property so it was easy to park near our room.
The reception were really helpful and got our room sorted really quickly even though we were 3 hours early and provided us with some great advice on the area.
The room was large , well equipped with a safe and WIFI quick enough to ring the UK on Skype at anytime and the shower always had hot water.
The breakfast was really good and a great start to the day , we ate at the restaurant one night and really enjoyed it.
Most hotels were charging in excess of $40 each to use their thermal pools and we could jump in the ones here anytime!!
The views of the volcano are stunning and the location is nice and secluded but with the hire car only 5 minutes from La Fortuna , if we go back to Arenal this is where we will stay again.

Room Tip: In peak times I can imagine you would get traffic noise from the front of the property , we chose 21 at the back which was quiet and secluded

El Silencio del Campo was so much more than my husband and I could have expected. We had such a great relaxing time here and wished we had stayed for more than 2 nights! Here are a couple of things that truly made this the perfect place to stay:

1. The property is beautiful!! Every morning we would take a walk around the property just to see all of the exotic plants and birds. There are plenty of areas to go explore around the spa and the hot springs. The staff has done a great job on all of the landscaping and keep everything perfectly maintained.

2. The bungalows are great. I do not think the photos online really do them justice, they were better than I expected. Very spacious, very high ceilings, a nice walk-in shower in the bathroom and once again the staff kept the rooms very nice and clean.

3. What really blew us away was the staff. They were all absolutely wonderful and worked so hard to make sure every guest feels welcome and is always comfortable! This hotel is small enough that they can remember everyone's name and have a chance to get to know you and help you to have the best experience possible. Elio was very helpful and always smiling at the front desk ready to help you plan excursions, transportation, spa etc. Jose at the bar was extremely friendly and hardworking. He was working at the bar our first night, served us breakfast the next morning and was back at the bar that same night, always with a smile and always happy to see us. You can tell every staff member truly cares for their guest and wants to make sure every one is happy!

I would absolutely recommend this hotel over other more expensive options in the area. I was unsure what to expect when I booked the trip, but I am so glad we chose what we did. They really go above and beyond to make your trip special!

We stayed for three nights and I feel blessed to have experienced this place. Everyone(!) was warm and welcoming, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They were informative, helpful, and made sure we were happy at every turn. The cottage was exceptional and extremely clean, and the grounds were picture perfect. Waking in an ultra comfortable bed to the sounds of nature was a bit of heaven. I had the opportunity to have a volcanic mud facial and it was one of the best facials ever! I can't wait to recommend this hotel to everyone I know who is planning a trip to Costa Rica!!!

We stayed six days in the rainy season. It rained only about an hour or two a day and was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful, individual cabins, numerous springs, great restaurant, and farm to visit. This is the place to stay.

We stayed in this hotel for three nights and enjoyed it very much. When we arrived they were drilling for a new well and we were afraid of the noise. In the end we had our cabin on the other side if the hotel and did not hear a thing.

Staff was friendly specially at the bar. Rooms were spacious and clean. People have been writing about the view spoiled by the hotel next door... It did not bother us at all, most of the hotel is covered by now by high vegetation.

Most special was the bottle of champagne in a cooler decorated with the most amazing flowers on our last night to celebrate our honeymoon! Very very thoughtful!

Dear Valued Guest,
We just read your opinion and are very glad to know that the noise and the hotel next door didn't bother you at all. Just to clarify, the well that was being drilled when you arrive is NOT ours and belongs to another hotel next to ours.
Thank you very much for the nice comments about the service delivered and the little detail we put in your room for the last night. We also wanted to commemorate that special occasion with you.
Thank you for having chosen our property as one of your destinations and for being part of El Silencio del Campo family for a few days. Look forward to welcoming you again.
