“Absolutely fabulous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2012

Fantastic view of the volcano. Decent (yet not fabulous) restaurant. Very nice rooms and area. Good bar. Great service (very friendly, accomodating and knowledgeable staff). The front desk goes above and beyond trying to make your stay as good as it can be (they helped us arrange our trip to Monteverde as well as activity in the Volcano area).

I don't think the TripAdvisor photos do this place justice. It's a beautiful setting close (but just outside) of La Fortuna. The villas were clean, spacious, and private. They had 4 warm 'hot spring' pools that are beautifully done. They also had a cooler (read, not heated) swimming pool that our kids enjoyed swimming in between their time in the hot springs. We enjoyed the hot springs so much that we didn't bother to go to any other hot spring for the day (e.g., Tobacon, Baldi, etc.). For us, the quiet natural setting, without day-use guests, was perfect.

We had a great view of the volcano from our villa - see submitted photo.

The restaurant has good food at reasonable prices. The staff was 'muy amable' (if you excuse the Spanglish...) and very willing to help us with towels, directions, food, recommendations, etc.

This place is family friendly, but not full of kids running around, so it can work for couples or families with mature kids.

The entire place was non-smoking, which was great for us.

One suggestion for the hotel is to provide more places to hang towels/clothes in the room. We might have been able to reuse towels more if they would dry out in between.

Room Tip: Rooms 4 & 6 are close to the restaurant, so might be louder than the rest. We stayed in room 7...

Very reasonably price accomondations for a family of four. Having a nicely appointed cabin lesseneds the concern about noise when traveling with a family. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious. Breakfast was included and served in an open air dining room.
The hot springs were a pleasure for both a pre-breakfast dip & a late evening relaxer. There were several small pools and a large one for kids & adults alike.
All the cabins have a great view of the volcano.

Tgus place is a little gem. They have their own hot springs and pool and you don't need to go to Baldi or Tabacon to experience hot springs. Although they are not as elaborate as the other two they are private to the hotel guests and very quiet. The grounds are gorgeous and it was like living in a bird sanctuary, amazing The people are great and very helpful. Food is average but priced well. They don't hold you captive and charge high prices like other places.

We spent two days at El Silencio del Campo which turned out to be a pleasant surprise. For far less per night than some of the other resorts, this place offers your own "house" with a view of Arenal and hot springs. The grounds were exceptionally clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. Our package included breakfast with a view of the local birds eating the fruit placed on a tree nearby.

Room Tip: All rooms have a view of Arenal and if you want the most quiet, ask for the ones further from the ro...

No matter how nice a place is, you will always find some miserable person complaining about something. Sure enough, there were a couple idiots with negative things to say about this place. What a shame, because this is one hell of a beautiful place. The individual cabins / villas or whatever you want to call them were awesome. Great A/C, clean, large, private and set in a lush garden with awesome volcanic pools. They are situated close to town (if you have a car), and right across from the Baldi Hot Springs (worth a visit). I highly recommend El Silencio del Campo.

Breakfast was awesome (and included).

Room Tip: try to stay in the middle or the back of the property, so you are closer to the hot springs.
