We rented 2 rooms at Arenal Green and absolutely loved it.

The hotel owner/guide is very welcoming. He setup a zipline tour, a hot springs tour, and a volcano tour for us. He even gave us rides for cheaper than the tour companies wanted to charge us (and brought free drinks for the ride). He even taught us how to make the typical Costa Rican breakfast that they serve in the little mini-restaurant there. Simply can't say enough about this.

As far as location goes, the hotel is right where we wanted to be. It was a nice walk uphill to the waterfall where you can go swimming. Down the hill is a short walk to a small city with lots of little restaurants to eat at. In the city there are taxis that can take you wherever you want to go (about $3 for 6 people from the hotel to the city center).

The rooms themselves are very clean and bug free (which is sort of amazing in Costa Rica). The shower was always hot and had better pressure than my shower back home. The air conditioning kept us cool which was also very nice. Also free internet is a huge bonus. Right outside the rooms is a nice little patio with a table and chairs. Great for sitting out and relaxing.

We just returned from our first visit to Costa Rica. I found Hotel Arenal Green on Trip Advisor and booked our reservations based on the reviews I found here. What a great decision! Monica and Germain are just as wonderful as the other reviewers stated. They handled our initial inquiries via email extremely promptly and professionally and were great about answering our questions about the area before we even showed up.

Monica checked us in and reconfirmed not only the reservation she had made for us at Eco Termales but also the one we had made on our own at Tabacon. Germain drove us to and picked us up from Tabacon for a very reasonable $20. I would highly recommend taking advantage of this service as the springs can wipe you out and it also allows you to have a couple cocktails and not worry about driving back in the dark. I went to get coffee the first morning and the second morning Germain showed up at my door with a small carafe, remembering that I had wanted some the first morning. Those little extra touches make a huge difference in your experience. I could go on about the little nuances in service but will suffice it to say, only the most grouchy traveler could find anything wrong with the service at this family run hotel.

The cabins were very comfortable, clean, and quaint. The hotel is a little out of town, which is nice because most of the other hotels we saw were right on the main highway and didn't feel as secluded. We had a dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant and both were very good and very reasonably priced.

My daughter and I walked to the waterfall while the other members of our party drove. It is only about 3km but most of it is up hill, so I would recommend doing this early before it gets too hot.

There is a great art gallery across the street from the hotel(Taino Gallery), which we wandered into to kill time and ended up buying most of our souvenirs there. The owner was awesome and very friendly.

All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a reasonably priced, authentic experience while visiting the La Fortuna area.

Arenal Green was hands down the biggest surprise of our whole trip. We were so happy with this pick. In fact, we were really bummed to have to leave for AOL!

We arrived after a long drive from the airport. The road is under construction so you have to take a 5 minute drive on a bumpy dirt path... German, the owner, greeted us and immediately made us feel at home. The cabins were small but so charming and cute! There was more than enough space for 2 and each cabin had a great little porch with tables and chairs...

The cabin had a large bathroom and a mini fridge (which AOL didn't even have...) - the room itself was very clean but there were some bugs here and there. What can you expect when traveling in Costa Rica?

Instead of calling us a taxi to take us to EcoThermales, German drove us and left his card at the hot springs so they could call him when we wanted to return to the cabins! After our meal and hot springs experience, German was back almost immediately after they called for him. He went out of his way for us and we really appreciated that.

We ate at the great little restaurant on site- best breakfast of the entire trip! Wonderful service... the whole family was helping with cooking and service and the restaurant was spacious and open...

The location is perfect. It is located only 1KM from La Fortuna so you're off the road a bit but still able to walk to town if you want. The waterfall was about a 40 minute walk up a dirt road so save some money and stay at this place (65/night!) and save money on tours by just taking a stroll up to the waterfall park!

I should mention that across the street from the cabins is the most amazing art gallery run by a really sweet woman. We got a couple of great paintings done by local artists there!

For a peaceful, affordable, really special personalized experience, stay at Arenal Green.

German and family- thank you so much we will be back and next time for more than just a night!

This place is fabulous and the owners are so friendly and nice. The room is very comfortable and clean, but we were outside mostly to enjoy the beautiful area. This was our favorite spot in Costa Rica and by far our favorite hotel.

Our family stayed at Arenal Green during Thanksgiving week. The cabins were spacious and clean and the garden was beautiful. We liked that there was inside parking and the hotel is really close to La Fortuna.

The best part is the extraordinary service from the family that owns and runs this hotel. We were greeted by Monica and her father German. During our stay they made sure we were comfortable, gave us advice about good local restaurants, interesting places and driving directions when we were leaving for Manuel Antonio. They are very friendly, hospitable, and generous people. Overall this place is great value and you can enjoy some real Costa Rican hospitality!

Thank you, German, for sending those items we forgot across the country by express mail!!!

Don't let the name fool you - these are around half a dozen individual cabins. They are a short, bumpy 1km outside of Fortuna. They appear recently built are fairly clean and are a decent size with hot showers. They are nice cabins and we would have probably had a better experience there had the weather been nicer. It was cold and rainy and the four windows we had did not close - they were open air with screens and thin curtains. We asked for extra blankets, but I am cold blooded and both nights we stayed there were not comfortable - the beds are hard and the two blankets just weren't enough. I'm giving it a 4 because for $50 a night I think it is a good value and if the weather was better it would have been fine. Most hotels, cabins, etc. in Costa Rica prefer cash and give you a discount for paying cash as the credit card fees for them are high. They requested cash here.
