This was our family's (2 adults and 2 kids, 5 and 11) second stop on our trip in CR. Great hotel. Everyone loved hot springs at the resort and swim up bar with sushi and other food items available right there. Room was very nice (were were in 401 and saw the volcano right outside our window). Fod prices are pretty high at the resort but we found it to be typical at all CR resorts. I would recommend having a car in Arenal or otherwise you'd have to pay for taxi every time you want to go out to eat, do or see something .. I especially want to mention Eduard at the trips desk. He really knew what he was doing and you can tell he loved helping you to make sure that you had the best experience possible. Really appreciate all his advise and help!

We checked in to find out we'd been upgraded and upon getting to the room, we found a rediculously room. We had a 8 person naturally heated hot spring pool. We had a beautifully tiled room with a television, fridge, couch, and large closets. Drinks w/ fruit and cheese were waiting for us. The bathroom was massive with a beautiful clear glass shower large enough to comfortablely fit 4. A deep bathtub that comfortablely fit 2 and a seperate area for a toilet. They also have small outdoor patio garden area that is walled in for your privacy and a front porch with chairs and hammock. On good days we sat on the hammock checking out the beautiful volcano which was in full view of our room. It was awesome.

The bar and dining area was great and we had no complaints except when one of the servers let us know our tip was not very good. I was literally shocked and suprised because I range 15-20%. I honestly felt insulted and I think they were slightly trying to take advantage.

The biggest down side was the massage area. We booked a massage for my wife and I at $300 or so and the area was beautiful. We waited our turn and I read the comments book at the front desk which clearly notes who the good masseuses are. Well, I got a bad one and sat through oddest massage ever. It never hurt, but it certainly never felt good. I nicely tipped her $20 and then went and spoke to the front desk who said they would consult a manager and let me know. In short, the next day they told me too bad. So that was the one downside.

Great area to stay in and I would come back, just disappointed by the massage.

Room Tip: Our comped room was massive and beautiful, I would only recommend paying for it if you're very w...

We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. Gorgeous property with great views of the volcano, nice hot springs, a fun wet bar, and a lovely yoga deck. It's a good central location to all the adventure tours and the concierge is very hepful. Be prepared for food prices like you'd see in the US, which isn't surprising since this is a resort. The breakfast was delicious!

We traveled with our family and another family on November 22, 2013 and stayed here for 3 nights. We reached late at the resort by the transportation arranged by the hotel from San Jose airport. From the time we got in the private vehicle, till the time we left the resort, each and every person left a lasting impression of their unparalleled service and outstanding hospitality. The entire team works on one goal... that is to make you happy, while you are there till the time you leave. They do make sure that you are satisfied with your choice, the decision that you've taken to stay at their property and engage with any staff for whatever it may be, whether a server serving at the breakfast restaurant, or a concierge (Edward, you were very helpful), servers or managers in the restaurant area, they show pride in doing what they do. We were a group of 8, with 4 kids ( 2 @ 7 years and other two 9, and 11 years of age), loved everything that the resort offered. Breakfast was delicious and their attention to details is just unbelievable! One of the staff members must have seen me praise their fresh fruit decor especially mangoes, and within a few minutes there were a couple fresh cut mangoes delivered to our table, that is TOP CLASS CUSTOMER SERVICE!

If you were debating in making a reservation here, just do it! Their hot springs were also a big deciding factor for us to make the reservation and we didn't regret our decision. Every room has an amazing view of the volcano, surroundings and the landscaping is outstanding. The bathrooms are a bit dated, had some small bugs getting in the room however if you are here in the hilly terrain area with abundant natural beauty and lush landscaping, don't expect not to have any small insects, you are here to enjoy the nature at it's best and also at a fair value! There are golf carts running by to transport you from your room to the front desk or anywhere needed on the property!

Me and my family truly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking to travel to La Fortuna Area.

Thanks for hosting us and I truly see why anyone who has ever visited Costa Rica, can't sing enough praise of the beauty and above all these loving and warm people who make sure that you had an awesome time here!

Gracias.... Pura vida!

The property is indeed beautiful, lush and green. The stuff was really nice and helpful. We enjoyed the magnificent view from our patio for about 15 minutes, then it started raining and since then clouds had been seating on the volcano for the next 3 day we spent at the area. The thermal pool is not big but nice and a very pleasant addition to the entertainment on a rainy night. The restaurant was Ok, decent food but not to die for. The prices are same as NYC restaurants have.

There are 2 reasons I am giving 3 stars to this property:

1. Awkward Internet policy: most of the websites are blocked, i.e. sports, vehicles, liquors categories. I understand that they want to prevent streaming not to overload the network but you cannot even check how your favorite team played last night! And please don't tell me you are in paradise why would you need Internet? Well, it's dark at 5.30 and if it rains 3 days in row there is not that much you can do there at nights.

2. Breakfast: I believe hotel like this could provide better breakfast. It's nice that you can order eggs any style you want and fried bananas were really delicious, but I find it's weird that on the morning when cheese is served, ham is not available and vice versa. Some cream cheese would be a nice addition to toast as well.

This place is beautiful. We stayed for 4 days at the beginning of our honeymoon. We had a wonderful room with amazing views of the volcano. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had great variety. We had the hotel/concierge book all of our adventures. We were picked up everyday in a nice van and taken to our adventures. We had dinner in both restaurants and each meal was fantastic. Our servers were kind and truly helpful. The thermal springs were perfect. They are all different temperatures and you cant help but fell the romance. The swim up bar was great. Prices are more than fair for a luxury resort.

Room Tip: Rooms farther away from the front office have a better view.
