“I wanted to bring their gardener home!!!!!! BEAUTIFUL property”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

I'm not kidding, I wanted to kidnap their gardener to come do my yard. The foliage is amazing and the views stunning. Everywhere you looked the view was of a tropical paradise. Like another poster said, we also had a banana tree right outside our room w/ bananas on it. We also had a lime tree with fruit on it. Then the flowers...... STUNNING! We were there as a family w/ 2 teenage girls. My girls even loved the peacefulness of the resort. We rented a jr suite so that we had both sides of the bungalow that connected. Great view out of our room of the volcano. The rooms are very clean (only complaint is I wish there was a mirror to use outside of the bathroom to get ready but even that was easy to overcome because of the total experience and I even hate to use the word "complaint"). It always felt like we were the only ones there and was not crowded at all. The swimup sushi bar was good. All of the food we had was very good and we were spoiled w/ the breakfast every morning.
While in the area we went on a canyoneering tour w/ Desafio Adventure Company. We rappeled waterfalls that morning which was a lot of fun!!!!! They served a homemade lunch afterwards that was very good. We wanted to do all of these adventures in one day so they had our zipline tour in the afternoon. After lunch they took us back into town to their office and we had about an hour and a half to hangout or walk around town. Found a great pan dolce (bakery) and got a few goodies to munch on. The next tour guides for the zipline picked us up and off we went. THAT WAS A BLAST! They are one of the only companines w/ the entire zipline adventure on platforms up in the trees. I highly recommend them. They picked us up at the resort and returned us back to Arenal Springs Resort.
The next day we went to La Fortuna Waterfall. We were told we did not need a tour for this and glad we did it on our own. It is a $10 entry fee per person into the park. You hike down to the base of the waterfall and then get to enjoy it. Take your swimsuit (wear under your clothes or change in the hot bathroom before you hike down), a towel. Wear the right shoes for this. Flip flops or such are not recommended for this at all. It is 700 steps back up and they are steep!!!! And sometimes slippery. Go early as it gets hot and humid on that climb back up and crowded at the waterfall.
Restaurants in town........ most look deserted but were good. We tried several but the names escape me. Yes, dogs are loose and will visit you while eating but not bother you.
All in all, I highly recommend Arenal Springs Resort and the entire area to visit. The people were all very nice!!! All of the staff at the resort spoke English and were always smiling and happy to see you. I'd go back tomorrow!

We stayed for 2 nights and would have wished I could have stayed longer. The hot springs was so beautiful and relaxing. The breakfast was delicious and fresh every morning. I would highly recommend for couple retreat or family gathering.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights here last week and enjoyed it! The property is absolutely beautiful and very well kept and the staff is so friendly. Wake up every morning with a clear view of Volcano Arenal. Highly recommend it!

I spent three nights at Arenal Springs Resort with my grandson. We found it to be very accommodating to all our needs. The staff was friendly and bilingual. The room was very nice, the bathroom was awesome with live plants lining the stone shower.
The restaurant food was well prepared and nicely presented. I would have enjoyed a few more foods representative of Costa Rica because I am an adventurous eater, but we had no complaints. The Restaurant overlooked the pools and volcano.
The hot springs pools and regular swimming pool were great. The swim up bar and sushi bar were fun. The grounds are beautiful, lots of interesting and lovely flowers everywhere!
Every part of our experience at Arenal Springs was great!

Room Tip: All the bungalows are similar with great views, nice porches and lovely interiors.

My husband and I and our 2 grown daughters stayed at this resort for 2 nights in May. We had a great stay. Our room was spacious, very clean and we had the view of of the whole Arenal volcano from our bed. The buffet breakfast was excellent, lots of choices. The whole property is gorgeous! The hot springs were so wonderful and relaxing after a hard day of fun activities.

We would like to commend and give our heartfelt thanks to the lovely person who found and gave to the front desk my daughter's wallet with $400.00 in it. We had already moved to another hotel when my daughter realized she was missing her wallet. We thought for sure we will never find the wallet much less the money in it. I called Arenal Springs just to see if by chance they had it. Lo and behold the front desk had the wallet with all the money in it. I tell you it restored our faith in humanity!! This says a lot about the people who work at Arenal Springs. Thank you, thank you.

We did a lot of research on where to stay in the Arenal La Fortuna area. The area is more touristy than the rest of our destinations making it hard to make sense of all of the different types of accommodations. This hotel will most likely meet all of your family's needs and desires if you you don't want to spend a fortune on a hotel. The grounds are nice with some pretty gardens with labelled plants. This is a large place with a road leading from the main area of the resort (restaurant, reception, pools, spa) to the rooms. If you don't want to walk, they have golf carts to shuttle you around. It was no issue for our kids to figure out how to get around quickly. We fit comfortably in one room with 2 queens and one twin bed. The bathroom was nice with a cool shower that let in rain water making a small watering system for the plants in the bathroom. The hotel is very ecofriendly with lots of reminders of how to preserve the beauty of Costa Rica. Upon arrival you have free drinks provided in the mini fridge. Ihey provide you with drinks upon arrival in the fridge at no cost. We liked that there were hot and cold pools. This was fine for our family and a good alternative to the expensive thermal pools/spas in the area. You are close to these if you want to visit them. The location is great. You are close to Arenal National Park and the Hanging Bridges, which were our favorite attractions for the two days that we were in the area. The lodge has great volcano views and that is what the area is known for. We could see it clearly from our room as well as from all over the grounds. The breakfast was really good for a buffet. There was typical food like plantains, rice and beans, meat and fruit, but also eggs, pancakes, pastries, cereal, etc... We ate dinner in the restaurant one day and had a decent meal. The prices were comparable to other La Fortuna restaurants and there was good variety but no kids options or smaller portions. We visited the pools 2 times and they were definitely appropriate for kids. There were both kid and adult hot pools. The kids could go to the pool bar and we did eat there one night. The bar was primarily occupied by young couples but there were also some older folks and families around, so we were comfortable. The pool area is very clean and nicely landscaped. We liked the location a lot. It was close to some much higher priced resorts and it had that feel at a really reasonable rate. Our family was happy to relax here after a long trip.

I apologize for being very late in writing this review. My family and I stayed at Arenal Springs for 3 nights last November and had an outstanding stay. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. The rooms are spacious, clean, and beautiful. The staff is so friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. We have 2 kids, aged 7 and 10 - the concierge (Edward) was wonderful and patient in helping us find the appropriate day excursions. (He had helped me by phone even before we got there.) We did a hike in the rain forest and went zip lining the other day. In between, we lounged in the hot and cold springs. Our kids loved them - but I wouldn't recommend them to kids under 6 - they might get bored. My son and husband spent a night watching sports and eating dinner while in the hot springs. It was a wonderful experience. You have to remember you are in a rain forest. It can rain all the time and your clothes stay damp from the moisture the whole time. But that didn't matter. It was a unique experience and we are so happy we chose this hotel. You get what you pay for. And it was very reasonable in price.

Room Tip: We requested connecting rooms with our kids and it worked out great. All rooms are in good location...
