What an amazing place. We (hubby, myself, & our 2 kids -ages 15 &11) had the privilege of calling Sloth our "home" for two nights! As you enter the property you are are greeted by rainforest on both sides of the road up to reception, then you see all the hummingbirds! Lots and lots of hummingbirds! Sloth tree house has a huge tree going right through it and a family of 18 bats that have made the porch their home. It was so fascinating to watch them leave at dusk and return the next morning as the sun started to rise. The kids had a "bats eye" view from the loft! Sloth has amazing view of the rainforest right from the bed! We would open the windows in the morning and just take it all in. During our stay we had 2 toucans right outside the window and many different species of birds would visit the porch, in particular there was a Blue-gray Tanager that would come tap on the window. The property is beautiful with 2 separate hikes, one short and one long one that will take you to the waterfall. When you get there you feel like you've found your own little piece of paradise (it took us about 90 min round trip, going back is uphill so make sure you bring some water!) Along the way we saw our first Strawberry Poison Dart Frog (aka Blue Jean frog), lots of birds, insects, lizards, and beautiful flora. We also had the chance to watch a family of Howler monkeys on the shorter trail! Breakfast each morning was thoughtfully prepared and presented, it was delicious! Mark and Lucy are very helpful, hanging out at breakfast to answer any questions and set up activities if needed. The kids enjoyed Bejuca too! I personally enjoyed taking a shower and being able to listen to the rain through the screened in shower windows! It was so relaxing! Thank you for an experience that we will not soon forget!!!!
Helpful notes: For those that are thinking of doing Proyecto Asis the Tree Houses Hotel is very close, maybe a 10min drive. If you want a great casado try Happy Land in Santa Clara, very reasonable too. The stairs to the tree houses are very steep and really most hotels in CR do not having parking directly in front of your room so pack accordingly. I recommend a large duffle bag with wheels for each person.
