This place is as advertised. The grounds are immaculate and the staff are friendly. The rooms are fairly close to walkways and other bungalows but because the foliage is so thick they are private. You can skinny dip! Food and drink were surprisingly good. The asian place has the best food but uncomfortable seating. The wine pairing dinner is in the worst setting at the resort, but the sommelier was incredibly knowledgable and friendly. The food was Ok, but the wine discussion was personal and in depth.
On property there are some short nature walks, sloths, monkeys, basilisks, etc. A great gym, free open-air yoga, the spa, cooking classes, and a couple of pool options. We did the night frog tour, the Penas Blancas river safari, and the Rio Celeste hike. The frogs and river were Ok. We chose them because they were short and with more time we'd do more long tours. The Rio Celeste hike was really great. A bit of exertion, so only go if you enjoy a hike. No wildlife, but you see a waterfall, rainforest canopy, and natural, bright baby blue water. They warn you about mosquitos, but coming from Texas it ended up being a bit laughable. You will want decent shoes for hiking that can get wet. If you want to save money, there are TONS of tours offered by tour companies. For tour & dinner reservations you want reservations but you can do it the day before. They'll adjust dinner reservations same day, but you might not get your ideal time. They book tours up until 8pm the day before.
