“Can I give it 10 Stars?!?!?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2014

Okay, let start by saying... be prepared to be wowed. This place is over the top fabulous. My husband and I just got back yesterday from CRica for our 20th anniversary. Nayara was the highlight of our trip. As we and other guests we talked with said, this is the best hotel we have ever stayed at and we are very seasoned global travelers. The Springs (not to be confused with its sister property, Nayara Hotel), opened in Dec 2013. It has private villas each with its own small garden area and pool filled with thermal heated water (no need to go to Tabacon Springs!). The villas are large, beautifully decorated, his/her bath areas, and a wonderful, private, dual outdoor bath shower. Even my husband kept saying how romantic the place was and how it would be the perfect honeymoon spot! (By the way, this is NOT a place for a family vacation! They target adults.) The features are endless--free international phone calls, strong WIFI, free mini bar food and drinks, great selection of restaurants on site to chose from, beautiful (quiet) pool area overlooking the forest and the volcano, breathtaking grounds with beautiful flowers, and the most amazing Concierge to help you with any request. Maricela, the best Concierge person I have ever met, helped us with activity, restaurant, spa, transportation reservations and much more. She, like the entire Nayara staff, truly embodied Costa Rica's "Pura Vida." They made the entire experience very welcoming and personal. This place has been given so many awards already--e.g., best hotel in both Central and South America and deservedly so. Check out their site. Their photos don't speak enough of the beauty. We, like many other guests we talked with, were also staying at the Four Seasons Papagayo. Honestly, it pales by comparison to Nayara Springs. Glad we saved Nayara for last! Be sure to do the Sky Trek zip line and the Cano Negro boat trip. Also, take advantage of their spa services done in private villas overlooking the forest--so peaceful. I could just keep going on... can I just go back now?!?! Please??

Room Tip: Any villa in Nayara Springs. If none are available when making reservations, make them in Nayara Ho...

We just spent 2 amazing days at the Nayara Springs in a Springs Villa. This is probably one of the nicest rooms you will ever stay in. The grounds are beautiful and these villas are so large, well decorated and private that it's perfect for any occasion. The private outdoor tub is continuously kept warm fed by the local hot springs and there is a hammock and outdoor bed on the deck next to the tub. The room is huge, great decor that would appeal to many different tastes in design. The outdoor double shower is fantastic, it makes this amazing room that much more special. If you want to venture to the main pool, it's new, modern, and tastefully done. The food is excellent in the adjoining restaurant and the decor inside is over the top, not to be missed! If you're lucky, you'll have a visit from Carlotta, the resident Macaw, who hangs out by the pool several times a day. The staff is so warm and welcoming and are always there to help with any questions you may have. We only wish we had more time but will definitely stay there again, it's a must!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the villas on the outside edge if you can. They are all the same but the ones on the...

We stayed at the Nayara Springs portion of the resort. It was the finest and most enjoyable hotel room we have ever stayed in. The service is outstanding (particularly Yeimi?) and extremely friendly. One morning as we off for a hike we were stopped twice and asked if we would like our room cleaned now. It was impossible to walk by the reception area without getting an enthusiastic wave and smile. We had a couple of spa treatments that were excellent and very reasonably priced. Amor Loco was our favorite restaurant on the property. Overall, I would say the food was very good but but nothing that truly rocked my world. That being said, I could not return to Costa Rica without Nayara Springs being part of my itinerary. My next stop after Nayara was the Four Seasons at Papagayo and while nice, it was a real disappointment after Nayara. As a foot note, both Google Maps and my GPS failed to actually find the hotel. They got me really close but it is best to use the simple hotel instructions, from Liberia at least.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed great to me but I would definitely choose the Springs resort rooms.

We meet up with our friends who were staying at the Nayara, for drinks at the hotel's Nostagia Wine Bar. The wine specialist, Keilor was so knowledgeable about the wines and very interesting in general!! He explained in great detail about a wine pairing that he did (gourmet meal of several courses, each course paired with a wine to compliment the food). Sounded amazing...unfortunately it was our last night in La Fortuna or we would have definitely planned to take in this experience. Next trip we will stay at Nayara as our friends loved it, and take in the wine pairing!!!!

Room Tip: We were just there for drinks in the wine bar.

My wife, daughter, and I just returned from a Costa Rica vacation to celebrate our 20th anniversary. The first stop was to be the Nayara Hotel and Spa. When we arrived, we were informed that we had been upgraded to a Springs villa. This was the first, but hardly the last, pleasant surprise of our stay. The Nayara Springs is finest hotel in which I have had the privilege to stay.

The villas are in freestanding buildings on stone paths amid beautiful gardens. They are very private. The units are spacious and sumptuously furnished with tropical hardwood furniture and lovely art--the hardwood floors are gorgeous. There are also indoor and outdoor showers with dual rainfall shower heads. Showering in our private garden never got old.

We were also pleased with the restaurants at the resort. The breakfast buffet at the Altamira restaurant was of solid quality, with reasonable variety. Dinners at Sushi Amor and Amor Loco had somewhat limited selections but featured great ingredients prepared well. It would be nice if the wine options were as good. And my wife and I indulged in a private chef dinner that was a terrific romantic experience.

However, what really sets this hotel apart is the level of service. The whole staff is friendly, well-trained, and dedicated. The property is immaculate, restaurant service is impeccable, and the warmth doesn't ever seem forced. Special shout-outs to Karla, our server for the private dinner, and Daniela and her partner at the desk.

This is an outstanding hotel. We had a great time and I can't wait to return.

Room Tip: I doubt there are any poor rooms.

My husband and I recently returned from a magical week at Nayara and we actually wonder if we'll ever stay at a place as wonderful as Nayara ever again! Everything about our stay was off the charts and exceeded every expectation from the fabulous villa with private the outdoor shower, whirlpool and deck overlooking the volcano, to the wine bar, to the swim up bar in the pool, the most magnificently zen outdoor yoga studio, and the restaurants with the fabulous staff and evening entertainment. It was all absolutely a dream!

This place is spectacular. The landscaped gardens are rich and colourful; the suites tucked along winding paths through the vegetation are sumptuous; the selection of restaurants eclectic and fulfilling; the spa with its treatment rooms open to birdsong and the sound of the wind in the trees relaxing; and the staff smiles warm and genuine, and not just pasted on for effect.

The setting in the forest in the foothills of the active Arenal volcano – venting steam while we were there – takes some beating for a holiday hideaway yet is close enough to the various natural attractions to reach them quickly.

This would be an absolute shoe-in for Trip Advisor five stars but…

We booked before it had even opened on the reputation of its sister hotel, Nayara Lodge next door, one of the top places to stay in the whole of Costa Rica. When we actually turned up for a four-night stay Nayara Springs had only been open for three months or so. So one should expect there might still be some bedding down issues. It seems tough in the light of the first paragraph above to be nit-picking but this is not a cheap place so the highest standards should be applied. And there were one or two things to pick…

These were generally small items but annoying nonetheless. Like us getting what appeared to be someone else’s room service breakfast on the first morning, getting the right room service breakfast on the third and fourth mornings but with no knives to spread butter or jam/jelly, and three visits before a maintenance man could get the air con in the suite working properly. As I say, small things and all of them capable of being eradicated with a little more management attention to detail, and maybe some more staff training. But irritating in their way.

A great place in the making, and almost there.

Room Tip: Any would do - but the real treat is each offers free international calls and free laundry returned...
