“Go very hungry!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

Good food and host. Fresh ceviche. Should have stopped there but was a gluten and glad I ordered a meal too. Large portion. I would order one meal with extra meat for two if allowed. Try to forgive the noise on busy road because the food is that good.

“Best food and biggest portion during my 3 months in Central-America”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2013

This little Caribbean restaurant was recommended to me by locals. It was very very good, especially if you are not planning, or don´t have the time like I did, to go to the Caribbean coast I recommend going here. Starter (nachos with bean sauce and vegetables) was on the house. Shortly afterwards came the fish and it was the biggest portion I´ve had during my 3 months in Central-America! The owner is very chatty and friendly. Definitely go here while you are in La Fortuna!

“Simply great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2013

Just had an amazing experience at Samdix. First, owner Henry Dixon was an amazing host. He went over and above in making us comfortable. He made several recommendations -- we eat a fair amount of Caribbean at home, yet we were glad for the input.
We chose two versions of fish - talipia - one with a Caribbean sauce that was rich with coconut milk and spices. The other was pickled fish - the pickling actually being the pickled vegetables that covered the fish.
The fish was delicately cooked -- crisp on the outside, moist and tender inside. The added patecones (fried green plantain) was perfect, too.
The place was pleasantly busy, and the outside patio inviting. Henry is quite funny, and he clearly loves running his restaurant. He's fluently bilingual.
We heartily recommend Samdix - and will be back -- try the fish!

“Wow, best food in Costa Rica.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013 via mobile

We were here for 14 days and on day 11 we came here. This is the only place I felt compelled to write a review for. The food was amazing and Dixon was great conversation. The resturant outside of being the best tasting was also the cleanest!! Dixon is more of a chef that a cook as everything was a 10 when we ate here. If you are in or around La Fortuna you absolutely MUST visit this place!

“Best Food & Service in La Fortuna!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013 via mobile

It was a tipp from a local people and it was the best we got during our trip in Costa Rica. Make it short: perfect cook and waiter, who explain you what they are doing and offer, a menu with only 10 dishes, which shows the cook is focussing on his best meals, starter for free on top and big portion of delicious food. Only 7 dollars! You will make your trip perfect after you ate here. 12 points on the scale 1 to 10. Still flashed....
