“Wonderful Place”

We loved the Cabinas near the waterfall ! The place was peaceful with the river sounds right outside our cabin. The family owners were very nice and accomodating - breakfast was delicious! And go see Jonny at the tour place right next store - he had some of the best deals in town and was EXTREMELY nice and helpful - did lots of stuff for free! We wish we had gone on his rafting trip - as ours got canceled.

As bird watchers, we loved the fact that our charming host, Felix, put out bananas twice daily for the wild birds. They came flocking into the feeders. Felix let us know when the "show" would start so we could admire and photograph the many species. We also saw amazing birds from out back porch and hammock that overlooked the trees and river below. We enjoyed the two bedroom cabin and we were able to cook using just a microwave and electric frying pan ( there is no stove). Felix' wife, Nina, kept our cabin clean and cooked the typical breakfast that we enjoyed each day on their porch. We thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality and warmth. It's a nice place to relax. Having a car is not necessary, as taxi rides are readily available. To us, being away from town was an advantage as it was always quiet.

I highly recommend these cabins for a relaxing get away. The owner, Don Felix, so warm and welcoming from the moment we spoke with him on the phone to make our reservations. A very easy going laid back feeling here. The cabins are nice, clean and spacious with wi-fi and cable TV for those who don't want to totally disconnect. We stayed in a cabin for 5 people that included a kitchen area with a fridge and plug in frying pan for cooking. Hot shower and a hammock on the back porch, couldn't ask for more. For $3 more you can have a good breakfast on the veranda at the main house which consists of rice and beans, eggs, sausage, fruit plate, toast and jam, coffee and juice. Very close driving distance to the waterfalls and thermal baths. Upon asking Don Felix recommended a nice little artisan souvenir shop close to him where we bought some beautiful hand made items from wood.

We loved this rustic property. The cabina was spacious and having two bedrooms was great. We used the kitchen to prepare beans, rice, vegetables and salads. The $4 breakfast on the porch of the owner's house was nice with eggs, gallo pinto, fruit, juice, coffee and lots of birds to watch since Feliz put out bananas. We enjoy walking and walked up toward the volcano as well as a nice loop into town. There are different floor plans so you might ask to see more than one, if they are available. Also, when we needed more bowls and cups, Feliz was happy to provide them. The cabina was tidied up each day and new towels and sheets were offered. We enjoyed our stay and will go back.

Room Tip: If you need something more for cooking, just ask.

I agree with the other reviewer that it was helpful to have transportation but I wouldn't say it's altogether necessary. There is a sidewalk most of the way into town and we did the walk one day and it was pleasant. The cabin was sufficient but I felt it was lacking in a few little things that would have made a big difference in comfort...a lightbulb on the front porch, screens in the windows, having the dripping kitchen sink fixed, and having more comfortable seating in the living area. No couch, just two stools and one rocking chair. But all in all it was a good find for the money and we were so appreciative of the owner Felix's efforts to go out of his way to point out wildlife to us even with our minimal Spanish skills. The breakfast was hearty and I enjoyed sitting on the porch of the main house to have breakfast and relax every morning! Also one of the best things they have going for them is the awesome English speaking couple that runs an adventure booking company on their property....look up paradise adventures' excellent ratings to see!

This is just outside of La Fortuna and it's a good idea to have some transport when staying here. The cabin was rustic but spacious with two large bedrooms, a main living/kitchette area and a great balcony with a hamock and space to relax and enjoy the amazing view and sounds of the surrounding wildlife. The owner was very friendly, although he didn't speak English and our Spanish is minimal, we managed to communicate effectively. He pointed out lots of local wildlife to us and even came to get us when there were toucans in the tree outside so we could see them. The breakfast was extra but great and well worth $3. As well as visiting Arenal and the waterfall we went to 'Los Laureles Hot Springs' which were really good and a fraction of the cost of the more touristy ones around the area.
