My partner and I stayed here for two days on the last leg of our belated honeymoon. This is perfectly adequate, upscale-ish place to stay in La Fortuna, but definitely nothing special for the price by Costa Rica standards. The grounds are indeed lovely, as many other reviewers pointed out, but we found our room to be small, dark and lacking in both cross-ventilation (only time on our trip when we had to use air-conditioning at night) and (more importantly) character. There is a view of the volcano from most of the rooms, but it is mostly of the inactive side (there is also a smallish slice of the active side visible). The hotel serves a nice breakfast that is included in the price, but when we tried one of the restaurants for dinner we were underwhelmed. Finally, the staff are perfectly pleasant, and will arrange activities in the area for you, but we actually found them to be relatively indifferent compared to the service we received at other hotels on our trip. Also, this was the only hotel at which we stayed that refused to cash traveller's checks, which required a trip into La Fortuna and a long wait at the local bank.

All of that said, the hotel is perfectly pleasant, particularly if you have a car to come and go as you please. It also has two very nice swimming pools, and seems particularly kid-friendly, so I think it would be an excellent option for a family-oriented vacation. Just nothing special in terms of a romantic get-away.

We were so amazed with the natural beauty of this place. Lush plants and greenery, a waterfall out back of our room, lots of birds and a very nice and clean room at a moderate price. Very friendly and accomodating staff. Restaurant food was good.

This place was lovely. Our room had a covered veranda with a view of the Arenal Volcano. Rooms are spread over the large property and the grounds are filled with amazing tropical flowers and plants. Super pool with a swim up bar. Breakfast buffet in the AM with the best fresh fruit (nothing like Costa Rican pineapple!) and a large selection of other items. Ate twice in the restaurant and found the fish entrees the best.

Can't add much to the other reviews. One of the best hotels we staying in when in Costa Rica. Big, clean and importantly quiet rooms. In fact this is the only hotel we stayed in, during our month long break, where you didn't need to use earplugs!

Two onsite restaurants, we ate in one for breakfast and the other one (near the reception) for evening meals. Good food at a reasonable price (mains were good and cost about 4000 colon which isn't too bad for a touristy area in Costa Rica).

Like so many hotels in Costa Rica the hotel is located some distance from the sites and other restaurants, but I since this such a common problem in Costa Rica you can't really mark it down for this. Be prepared to drive or take a taxi, there are very few pavements/ sidewalks in Costa Rica and even the locals don't seem to walk anywhere.

This is a beautiful hotel with a view of Arenal. Unfortunately, we never saw lava from our room while we were there. The lava has changed direction.

However, the hotel rooms, services and amenities are very nice.

They have 2 restaurants at the hotel, but only one open for breakfast (that opens at 7 a.m.). I mention this because a lot of tours leave around 7 a.m. so all you get for breakfast is fruit, bread, and coffee (which were all good here).

This hotel is on a large property and you can take a golf cart to go to the entrance (for tour pickups). The grounds are relatively flat and easy to walk. Be sure to go out early in the morning for some great bird watching in the gardens.
