I would stay here again any time. It's located just off the central plaza with striking views of the Arenal Volcano right from its second story courtyard. The breakfast is absolutely excellent! This location is ideal for those of you who are using public transportation. The staff is very responsive and friendly. The hotel maintains a collection of Costa Rican travel guides and nature guides which we found very useful. Directly across the street are some of the best restaurants in town.

I just spent 5 nights here and always choose a budget hotel when I am going to only use it for sleeping and showering. It was a simple, very clean and more than adequate housing. Most places in La Fortuna town are hostel types but this one is more of a hotel. It has a lovely 2nd floor garden patio for all to enjoy and a great place to meet other travelers. The breakfast in the morning(from 7am-9am) was a nice inclusion with the inexpensive price of the room. It had scrambled eggs, some days with pancakes or rice & beans, breakfast meat, plantains, and a selection of fresh fruits, coffee, juice and toast.
It has a perfect location in the center of town and next to the beautiful center square. Great views of the volcano too. The bathroom sink water only had cold water, as is common for many places in Costa Rica, but the large shower always had hot water and good pressure. My bed had a medium firm matress and I slept very well. The a/c always worked and the staff was incredibly nice. Nothing bad to say about the place. Even the other visitors that I got to meet, were wonderful. Plenty of places in town to eat, called Sodas(cafes) but the best one is directly across the street from the hotel called Soda Y Viquez.

Room Tip: The second floor rooms surround the public patio but most people are very quiet there early in the m...

Rooms are clean but small. Some have safes, fridges and blow dryers. Be sure to ask for a room with these items if you want them. Street noise can be heard from room. Friendly family run hotel. Breakfast is standard fare.

Apart from the beautiful view of Volcan Arenal. It has great location where everything you need is walking distance. This is my 2nd stay here and I'm most pleased with the service & amenities. The staff is very friendly and really want you to have a great stay in their hotel.

We stayed here for two nights on the first floor. The room was clean and comfortable, if a bit short on space for storage. But there were 2 double beds, so that perhaps explains the lack of space. Hot water in bathroom good. Our room opened out on to the terrace, but wasn't noisy. Breakfast was good - standard Costa Rican fare, but well done. Service throughout our stay was excellent and friendly. The big supermarket next door and the lovely terrace mean that at least for one meal a day you can avoid everything fried. Both fan and AC worked a treat, and weren't noisy.

Room Tip: Avoid the ground floor, rooms there are dark and musty. Ask for one opening onto the terrace, but no...

"Where friendlyness reignes" - that is what our travel handbook stated about this accommodation (Stefan Loose, German). It literally felt like that: We were treated with explicit courtesy. Somehow this did not feel authentic, though.

The room was okay – clean and with balcony. However, motor bikes and cars passed by routinely during the night, so we did not sleep so well.

As others have written before, the breakfast was especially sad: One could sense that everybody tryed to do their best. Yet, neither the eggs nor the Costa Rican national dish, gallo pinto, was seasoned in any way that could be noticed.

Taking both positives (reliable reservation, cleanliness, trustworthyness) and negatives (somehow uptight atmosphere, loud surroundings, bad breakfast) into account, this hotel felt overpriced for what it has on offer.

To be fair, this goes hand in hand with our general impression La Fortuna. The place left us with the impression of a town that has tipped over to party and action tourism. It reminded us of Vang Vieng in Laos.

My sister and I had two nights here february of 2014. Our room was lovely and the water hot enough. Best part however was the amazing view and common space terrace with plants and terrace. There is a grocery store directly next store and a small fridge in the room (maybe not all rooms), so we had our dinner of cheese, wine, etc on the terrace. The staff is super helpful and friendly (and speaks English). The guy who works evenings (Abierto? Sorry, I forgot your name- again!) is hilarious. He said we had the best room in the place and I believe it (#27). Also, the towel folding is the best I have encountered- elephants and turtles. The breakfast is ok and the service great. Swim in the La Fortuna Waterfall while in town. As recommended by the lovely day clerk, we took cab out ($8) and walked the 4km back (after a swim of course). We found no need for colones anywhere (US dollars accepted), though you will get them as change. The street noise kicks in early, but it didn't bother us. I love this hotel.

Room Tip: Talk to the staff about everything you want to do as they know their area and all the tours. Save t...
