Owner description: Nestled in the heart of the tropical rainforest at the base of the majestic Arenal Volcano in the northern Region of Costa Rica. This five-star resort offers a unique blend of nature, adventure and relaxation. The resort's unique healing thermal mineral spring river emerges from the volcanic earth, cascading to form waterfalls, streams, tranquil pools and ponds surrounded by lush tropical gardens.

The fact that the water comes directly from the volcano is amazing. The water pools are all different temperatures and its not that crowed so you are able to enjoy yourself... I loved it here and would visit again...

Dear Tanya N

We appreciate your review. Tabacon main philosophy is to offer a memorable experience to all our guests and we are glad to know you enjoyed the different pools and waterfalls complemented by the beauty of nature. At the Resort as you experienced, there are more than 20 different pools, ponds and cascades all of them with different temperatures and a high mineral content that comes directly from the Arenal Volcano. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future.

Cordially

The grounds are stunning and very well kept. The thermal springs are sultry and lush with vegetation. Staff is not so friendly and the buffet dinner included with a day-night pass was adequate but not fantastic.

This place is gorgeous and lots of fun getting in and out of the springs. Find the Shangri-la gardens area witht he cabana's and bar and don't forget to try it at night. It's a whole other experience. A don't miss destination

Dear hunkydoreyWoodstock

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, we are glad that you had the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica and decided to visit Tabacon. Shangri-La Gardens is a secluded area in the upper part of the hot spring resort where you can live the most relaxing experience in a private bali or enjoy a delicious cocktail surrounded by the rainforest mysticism! We would love to receive you at the hotel in the near future.

Kindest Regards

These are the only hot springs in the area that are actually built into the very river that flows and is heated from the volcano. The others just pipe the water into man-made pools. So the "natural" setting makes it very unique. There is also a pool with a swim up bar if you prefer that. But they have created many different pools with waterfalls in the "river" section which are fun to check out. The buffet dinner is a buffet dinner and I'm not terribly fond of buffet dinners, but as buffet dinners go this one was better than average. All in all a classy place.
