We traveled with a tour group so we were stuck there for two nights. Service is nonexistent. They won't even show you where your room is. The place looks nice from the outside but the rooms are so disgusting. Mold on the ceilings. No hot water. Bugs. No towel given to dry your hands in the bathroom. Holes in the shower curtain so the water floods the bathroom floor. Food was edible but if you're not first on line, they run out of food and beverages and won't make more.New name of hotel is Cascada de Fuego.

Run away from this place - fast! We stayed here two nights while on an EF Tour (therefore did not book ourselves). There is nothing that I can say that is positive. No hot water, lizard poop in beds in morning, no maid service, impossible to get service (fresh towels, reception, etc). There is wifi but only in the common area. No A/C in most cabins. Food was decent but only buffet style so no options. Tried to get something different for our son who's very picky and the person we asked went in to the kitchen and never came back. Ants all over the drinks and cups. Seriously, not a place I would ever recommend.

I stayed here with a friend in July 2008. The hotel was beautiful and the restaurant was fantastic. We got here easily in a cab from the bus station and all of the tours we took picked us up from the hotel. It is easy to get to the volcano, rainforest, and waterfall from this hotel. The landscaping around the pool was beautiful and the staff were helpful with everything we needed. It is very quiet and the rooms were clean and nice. We were looking for something nicer than a hostel, but not necessarily an American style hotel. Las Cataratas was perfect at $60 a night.

Cataratas Resort right know work with a new management, is making a lot of improvement, the costumer service is good, the employes are nice people.

The food is really good, the room I get was comfortable and very clean.
