We had a great time at this hotel- particularly my 7 year old son. They offer some very thrilling water slides, so if you are a water slide afficionado you must not come to Costa Rica without visiting Los Lagos! My 4 year old and 1 year old could not go on any of the slides-- they are all very fast and made of concrete, but for older kids and adults, they are amazing. It is a pretty large hotel and although there are lots of people around, no one touched my stuff and the security is very good. The one issue I had was that I had to ask four times for a crib to be delivered to the room. This was unfortunate because I am a single mother traveling alone so my infant was melting down by the time it finally arrived. But the maid who brought it was so nice, patient and kind. She helped me with the children while I got them ready and really made up for the inconvenience. Thus, they still get 5 stars!

A group of 16 of our family stayed at Los Lagos. The age range was from 83 years old (abuelita) to the youngest niece of 13. This property is beautiful with some many things to offer. There are about 12 pools, each one different with spring or cool water. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. Especial mention to Mr. Cesar, the chief of security who advised us constantly on the best places and restaurants in La Fortuna. While our four rooms were up the hill from the lobby, we never had a problem getting around as the shuttle was always available for us taking us down the hill or back to the rooms. There was a particular driver (i am sorry as i do not recall his name) who was always very gracious and patient with all the requests form this crazy and loving family group. One morning we woke up around 5AM and observed from the patio of our rooms one of the most beautiful sunrises i have ever seen, not to mention the volcano next to us without a cloud. Majestic! The food at the restaurant was excellent, portion size and quality. Our rate included hot buffet breakfast, and it was plentiful, with variety and everyone loved it. Thank you Los Lagos! You made our first trip to Costa Rica one for the memories. Pura Vida!!!

Check-in was very easy and the staff was very friendly. Our room was clean & huge. We did have an issue with our first room, in the bathroom, and had to be moved. The sink leaked and there was standing water. At first, the maintenance people didn't want to believe us, they said we flushed toilet paper down the toilet (Big no no in a lot of the country). After cleaning up, the water leaked again. Finally, after a second time coming, they found the true problem and our room was moved.

The pool and hot springs area was very nice. However, this resort is much larger than I expected. Our room was in the back, so it was an incredibly long walk to the pool and restaurant. There is a free shuttle, but you have to call and wait, and you may be picking up or dropping off others.

Pool bar was fun, but definitely pricey drinks. Breakfast buffet was included for us, and it was average. We ate dinner on site one night, the menu was huge with a great selection.

The butterfly garden was cool, neat little perk. This is definitely more of a family place. We traveled as a couple and felt a little out of place at times. Free internet only works at lobby, if you're lucky you can get it at the pool.

There were a lot of options available for adults and kids, great water slides and pools of varying depths. The "hot springs" are really more like hot tubs, pools with very, very hot water in them, but it was still refreshing and relaxing.

This resort is located at the foot of an active volcano. The volcano heats the springs which provide Los Lagos with several very nice and relaxing pools. They have both hot and cold water pools as well as water slides, a small garden and wildlife area (Butterflies, ants, birds, alligators), a small zip line, and a restaurant (the breakfast buffet was great).

The rooms are in numerous buildings like motels (exterior doors). Our group had rooms with two double beds. TV, AC unit, armoire, and large bathroom with a huge walk-in shower. (Note that you have to insert a room key in the light switch just inside the room door to power the lights and TV! Someone had to tell us!)

Very nice resort!
