We loved the Jacamar volcano hike! Our guide Raul was extremely knowledgable and seemed to take a lot of pleasure in showing us around the park. We saw a toucan, sloth, leaf cutter ants and a lot of beautiful birds on our way to the lava field. The walk was very easy, so anyone could do it, even if their fitness level is not so great. The tour exceeded our expectations and was well worth the price. We learned a lot about the history of the area, the geology and the flora and fauna.

We booked the Palo Verde and pottery tour from the Allegro Papagayo hotel. We were lucky to have David as a guide who was willing to take extra time in showing us interesting and unique birds and other things. He was very knowledgeable about the country, everything from history to energy to agriculture and of course flora and fauna. His English was very good. The lunch stop was very god amend a nice break from the hotel buffet.

Our tour was amazing! Our guide - Alonse (I hope I got the spelling right) - was phenomenal. Knew so much about everything, took pride in his work and country and taught us a lot! Our main driver, nicknamed "eagle eyes" was fantastic too! Together they found us wildlife including a sloth and toucans, coatis and lots of birds!! Oh as well as 2 cayman!!they went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time! We visited arenal volcano by boat as well as The Springs hot springs...which I recommend highly as well! The water slide was sooooo fun! Our group ranged from 14 to 65 years old and each and every person cannot stop talking about how great it was! It was very well organized, excellent meals and superb value for money as well! So thank you to all who made it happen!!

We booked the Jacamar Palo Verde boat tour from our Lobby (at the Riu Ganacaste hotel). The guide and drivers were super knowledgeable and interesting to talk with and they took special care to make sure things went smoothly with our two young children (2 and 5 year old). We saw a lot of wildlife and the whole experience encouraged us to book a second tour later in the week, the buena vista tour including horseback riding, zip lining, waterslide and spa. Again we were very happy with the experience, with a good professional guide who spoke excellent English, a comfortable pace and no uncomfortable feeling that they were looking to squeeze every last dollar out of us. (It was a pushing it a bit to put a 2 year old on the zip line, but he's almost 3 and was big enough to fit into the harness - he ended up enjoying it but I don't expect every kid to react that way). Both trips were very worthwhile and I don't have any serious complaint.

So I would strongly recommend Jacamar, and I got the impression it was much better value than the same day-trip destinations offered through the multi-national company that sold us the hotel package and air flight. I don't usually write these sorts of reviews, but wanted to share this positive experience.

We booked one adventure with Jacamar in Arenal/La Fortuna and enjoyed it so much we booked two more!! They are the best and will make sure you don't have to worry about anything except having a great time. 1) Our first was the Hanging Bridge with our guide Alberto. He was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure we got the most out of our Rainforest tour. 2) The next day we decided to do the White Water Rafting (class II-III). Our guides were Victor, Rocky, Didier and Carlos. Victor was on our raft and even though it was our first time ever rafting, his instruction and guidance made us very comfortable and allowed us to really enjoy the beauty of the river while traversing the rapids. Then they took us on an a tour of a local sugar cane mill which included dinner. 3) On day three we decided to go on the River Safari and were very happy to find out that Alberto would be our giude once again. We got to see many more monkeys, iguanas, sloths, toucans and several kind of birds. This tour ended with a trip to a local home/diner where we got to sample Yuca cake, cheese made on-sight and 1820 coffee. This also gave alberto more time to talk to us about the culture and trditions of the area and towns. We will definatley be back and you can be sure that we will be contacting Jacamar again!!
