We ventured off the main drag on our last evening in town and spotted this place.....it was the most crowded restaurant we had seen. There were a couple tables available, so we stopped in and weren't disappointed. Really good food and nice environment. Prices and service were both great.

We stopped at Rancho Perla after a long drive in from Vara Blanca. The food was fine, the service was ok, but like I mentioned in my other posts, we are on vacation and have a lot of time on out hands. So its not a big deal, as long as my table is clean, drinks are filled and food is prepared fresh, I am ok with a wait.

I have grilled chicken breast, which came with decent mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. My wife had the shrimp and rice, flavor was good, but the shrimp were way over cooked. My kids shared some chicken fingers with fries, I tried them and they were pretty good.

On out way out of town, we ordered some the same things for the road, minus the grilled chicken breast and the quality and freshness were exactly the same.

Overall, it is a good place and the menu has a variety of different items to full fill most needs.

Only real negative, the bathrooms were nasty.

Consistent on all of its extensive menu this restaurant is one of the best in the country.
Perla, chef and owner has been able to maintain a high stander of quality for several years in the area, the just moved to downtown La Fortuna and people still follow him.
For Costa Rica standars (very expensive) this restaurant has fair prices, considering the food quality is a total bargain!!

Our group of friends, four couples traveling together, thoroughly enjoyed a delicious mid-day feast here at La Perla. We heard raves from some locals about the great seafood here and they were right! Our group had a variety of fish & seafood. The seviche of octopus & calamari was just perfect to start. Sea Bass was done very well. The lobster was delicious & the serving was enormous! We all said that this was the freshest, most delicious & superbly-prepared fish & seafood anywhere! The beer was good and cold too! It was excellent value. It is in a nice location by the central plaza with all sorts of little shops in the surrounding streets, and there is a taxi stand closeby. The building itself is large, airy, open to the outdoors...very pleasant with super wait staff! This restaurant is known locally as Perla's, also as La Cascadia & Rancho Perla!

This was such a great pick! We had a wide variety of dishes from the Sea Bass with rosemary sauce, Filet Tips with Jalapeno sauce, to pasta and all was the most favorable. The service and atmosphere is wonderful and the prices can't be beat! Definitely make this a "to do" on your list while visiting La Fortuna!
