Photos don't do it justice. Really awe-inspiring. TAKE WATERSHOES. The rocks and water are difficult to navigate barefooted.

This waterfall is reason enough to spend a day or two in La Fortuna . Awesome waterfall located in Costa Rica. The hike is quite long so come prepared with hiking shoes and sportswear. You can leave your car at the parking lot, then you can enjoy some views before actually going to the waterfall. The walk up and down is around 500 stairs, so if you are not fit, it is rather a hard challenge.People in all ages can do it, just good physical condition is recommended. Well kept trails. The rocks are slippery, so if you want to swim, bring water shoes. The waterfall is 200 feet high with a pool to swim in at the bottom or a stream for children, this is the perfect place. It is amazing to see all this nature, you can see some fish swimming with you. The waterfall is stunning , absolutely breathtaking. That’s a place that you must visit if you are in San Carlos, Costa Rica.

This is a lovely spot to visit, even in the pouring rain like the day we went. Unfortunately, when it rains a lot you are not allowed to swim near the falls so keep that in mind if that is something you really want to do. When we bought our tickets we were told we could swim at the little beach area away from the falls but while we were in swimming someone came to tell us to get out because the water was too high and too brown. So you may not always be able to swim there depending on the weather conditions. But the waterfall is beautiful. There are benches along the stairway to rest on the way back up.

Great hike; views; pictures. Also, great zip-lining in the area and boutique hotels. This is a place to see in this part of the country. Will take a part of day but not all day.

This waterfall is worth stopping by if you are already in La Fortuna to see Arenal, but don't go out of your way to see it. At least 500 steps down to the falls, which makes for quite a workout climbing back up. Beautiful cascade, dropping into a pool below. There is an observation deck from which you can snap photos. Pricy entry fee: $18 per person (reason for 4 stars). Nice facilities, including bathrooms, changing rooms, and showers. It is possible to swim around the falls. There is a staff member on duty at the bottom to monitor swimmers and blow the whistle at anyone who gets too close to the cascade.
