We walked down (and up) the 500 steps to get close to the falls and swim in the river downstream from the falls. The person who monitors the falls did not allow us to swim in the area where the falls plunge down on the day we were there. Excellent picture spot both on the rocks by the falls and in the river. Well worth the effort. Yes, a little touristy, but still should see it.

This was apart of an excursion with the hanging bridges and an Arenal hike. The waterfall was breathtaking and we had the best time! The stairs are a lot to handle going up but it’s a nice workout! There’s places to break. It’s worth the hike for sure. If you are in the area this is a must see! We took beautiful pictures and I’ll never forget this experience.
