“Informative Tours with Talented Guides”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

We enjoyed both the Hiking Arenal Volcano and a Kayak Tour on the lake. Both guides, Gerald and Maderi, were very knowledgeable and great supporters of the environmental acts of Costa Rica! We learned so much from them both and they showed us some incredible wildlife and scenery as well as explained how to protect them. We found these types of tours to be our favorite excursions and they really enhanced our visit to Costa Rica! Thank You!

“Too fast!”
Reviewed February 4, 2014 via mobile

I went on a volcano hike with Eagle tours and was very disappointed. While the guide talked about the history and some about the plants, he did not look for or point out any wildlife. We were kept at a brisk pace uphill through rocky terrain with few stops for water, resting, or pictures. It was very brisk and while it was good exercise it seemed like a waste of a volcano hike. We saw some interesting places and learned a bit, however it was so rushed that it was not pleasant. I would rather have hiked the trails myself because then I would have had time to enjoy it rather than just trying to get it done. I am also a nervous person on bridges and the guide instructed us to go on a precarious and bouncing wooden and rope bridge then followed at a brisk pace. I could not take my time to get comfortable with the bridge and because he insisted we all get on the bridge at the same time and then followed too closely behind it was extra bouncy and terror inducing. I had a band around my wrist that got caught and fell off as I was walking however as he was following far too closely and did not stop when I stopped and turned around I gave it up as lost. In addition we hiked he did speak some however he spoke softly so I, four people behind, could not hear a word. Not a recommended tour unless the guides learn to slow down!

“All Day Combo Tour Amazing and Exhausting!!”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

We pre- booked this tour before we got to Costa Rica through their online site.
We will start with the negatives since there are only a few. They were about 25 minutes late picking us up at our hotel for our morning departure. The van was a bit beat up and the step to get into the van was very high. I wish they would have been a bit more hospitable with snacks and drinks as our other excursions were.
On the positive side, if you are staying in La fortuna for a limited time this is a great way to see a variety of things in one day. Our guide Jesus, was very informative and passionate about nature. We started off at the Hanging Bridges of Arenal- a unique and marvelous way to view the rain forest. A family of about a dozen coatis walked right by us here! We continued to La Fortuna Waterfall. The steps to the waterfall were treacherous but the goal at the base was well worth the hike. Don't be a wimp- bring your bathing suit and brave the cool waters to fully enjoy this experience!! Lunch was included which was served at a "typical" Costa Rican restaurant downtown. Rice and beans, plantains, steamed vegetables, salad and choice of meat with fresh fruit juice. We had about 45 minutes of free time to go in and out of the shops in La Fortuna, which there really isn't that much to see. Next onto the Arenal Volcano hike. If you are expecting to see molten lava flows you will be disappointed since there has not been an eruption of that magnitude in about 3 years, though it was a cool hike through old lava beds and through the jungle. Tour ended at Tabacon Hot Springs which included a buffet dinner on the property. It was $185 per person for the entire day (total of 12-13 hours) with all entrance fees and meals included. If you are not in shape think twice about doing all of this in one day - I think Jesus figured it was about 5 miles of hiking- jungle hiking- steep slopes, rocks, wet terrain, and MANY steps. Tip- bring a change of clothes and poncho- it is the rainforest and we got SOAKED in Arenal and hanging out in wet clothes is not a good time ;)

“Not reliable at all ... Do not go thru this agency !”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

During our transfer from Arenal to Monteverde thru lake crossing, our minibus broke down. Due to the very poor reactivity of our driver and of the agency, although several minibuses ( half empty) overtook us on this road in the middle of nowhere, there has been no possibility to transfer us on these buses. We waited 1 hour before someone came to try and repair the bus which finally broke down again after 1 more km. our 6 pax were left with no information ( driver not taking English) and when they finally decide to find another bus to replace the broken one , members if the group had to pay for it because the agency would not pay ... before they can get reimburse. Result: we reached Monteverde with 3 1/2 hours delay ... no excuse... Nothing... Our recommendation : do not go thru this unreliable agency , poor service, poor bus .

“No pickup by jeep&boot&jeep tour”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

I booked a jeep&boot&jeep transportation from Monteverde to La Fortuna at 8am via tourist office in Monteverde. But Eagle tours didn't pickup me by my hostel. Therefore i lost a travel day. For the next departure i booked the same trip with another company and that's worked fine.
