We used AnywhereCostaRica to plan part of our first-time visit to Costa Rica. We already booked the flight and most of the hotels, so we mostly used them to plan tours and transportation. The planner who helped us was Ileana. Their website is easy to use and lets you customize your itinerary and ask questions. They are very responsive to the questions, usually they get answered within a day or so. You can also chat with them on the website.

I had to make a last-minute change because of a change in our flight, which they accommodated promptly without any extra fee. During the trip I wanted to make another last-minute change which they could not make this time (which is understandable as there was very little time left for the change), but at least they were responsive.

Overall our trip was made very smooth and pleasant thanks to AnywhereCostaRica's planning. I don't think you pay much more using them either (they probably get a more favorable rates from providers). You can certainly make all the arrangements separately yourself, but using AnywhereCostaRica makes things much easier and takes away a lot of uncertainties, and it's easier to change -- you just have to let AnywhereCostaRica know and they will handle it for you. I think these are especially important for first-time visitors to Costa Rica.

We used Anywhere Costa Rica for 4 different transfers within Costa Rica. All of our drivers were courteous and punctual. No complaints there. Since we had used them twice for transfers by the time we got to La Fortuna, we booked a tour through them. We actually went into the office in La Fortuna and discussed the options with a staff member. We wanted the Volcano walk and hot springs. Informed that we were a group of 6. Specifically asked which hot springs were better for kids and whether we should do walk in the morning or afternoon. Were told that since they had a maximum of 10 people per tour and we were already a group of 6, that we would probably be alone on the tour which would make it go faster than the usual 2.5-3 hours. It was suggested that we go to Baldi as they have a children's water park and that we do the afternoon as we would have a few hours in the pools after the hike and could have dinner in the middle. These suggestions made sense so we booked with them. When the shuttle arrived to pick us up there were already 7 other people in it, giving us a group of 13. This is obviously greater than the maximum we were quoted of 10. Because everyone stopped to look at different things, the hike took more than 4 hours. The guide was great but this got us to the hot springs at 6:50 pm for dinner and hot springs. Dinner is only served on the hour so we got a 7 pm dinner slot. By the time we ate (very quickly) and got changed, it was after 7:30 and we had to be changed and ready for pick up by 9:20. By the time we got to the pools, the children's area was closed and the entire complex was quite dark. The slides were dangerous, someone actually injured themselves quite badly while we were there and was taken away by ambulance. There did not seem to be much staff around to help people in trouble either which gave a generally unsafe feeling. Since you are paying full price for the two tours (volcano tours typically ~60pp and day pass to Baldi ~50pp), it seems like you should get more than hour or so in the actual pools. Also, if you have asked for the child appropriate park, it would be good if the children's section was open when you arrived. It was just really disappointing overall.

Not pleased with this company. We heard good things and expected everything to be in order. I should've known when I asked the difference between the two rooms proposed and couldn't get a response from our advisor. Soooo... We get there and the room is wrong. I email her and she tells me to go take care of it since I'm there and it would be easier. Alrighty then. The morning of departure the driver and guard are in a stand off for 20 minutes and he expects us to walk to the road with our luggage. We tried to call the office to get assistance but of course no one was available to assist. Finally, the driver got over whatever it was and came to us. For the amount of $$ spent I expected the advisor to understand what we were looking for and book is in an area that met our needs and not the desolate location she chose and then assist when things went wrong. Won't use them again.

The trip advisor was amazing. That started us off knowing our trip to Costa Rica would be a fun-filled one with no worries. He set up our driver, hotels, and adventure tours. We would've been clueless had we not went through Anywhere Costa Rica. Everything was on time, explained exactly how it was on our itinerary. We all had a blast and would recommend their services to anyone visiting Costa Rica. Roy was exceptional, even with all the changes we wanted to make, he accommodated us with it.

This tour takes the right kind of person to enjoy, if you enjoy stop and go traffic but wish you could do it with an atv than this is the tour for you. If you can't comprehend the up arrow and the down arrow and how they relate to shifting gears pull in right now and give them your credit card. Or if you are so timid that the thought of going 5 mph gives you goose bumps than bring your friends and have a ball. However if reading any of this seems so dull that you would rather stick toothpicks under your finger nails my advise would be to find something else to do and not waste 2 hours of your life. The guides are very friendly and speak English but they can't control the group you get stuck with.
