Owner description: Small private Natural Reserve that takes care of a secundary forest in natural reneration. iT counts with a 600mts trail along the park. Around the facility you will find sloths (2 and 3 toes) a pretty big diversity of birds (Aprox.170spp)Butterfly garden, where you breed close to 20 different species. The frogs are very common, but mostly at night, in the day the msot active one is the blue jeans frog. It also has a small natural lake where Iguanas, Boat billed Herons and Caimans interact together. Besides wildlife, the Ecocentro Danaus supports the Maleku's Indigenous by providing a small facility where they can teach and exhibit their art ( Buying their art is optional )

outside of the town of fontuna is a nature preserve only 16 years old. It was pastureland allowed to return to its forest nature with many indigenous animal and vegetable species reintroduced. The tour is very educational and benefits local indian tribes and schools. We got to see 2 sloths and many other species.

Lush nature reserve that has created perfect balance of controlled environment and natural habitat. Large enough to avoid other groups, but small enough to stroll quickly on one's own if desired. Definitely get the guide. Worth the money and easy to miss wildlife without. Paz was our guide. His english was a little spotty at times but he was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and knew all sorts of cool factoids about the animals and plants we saw.

What a great way to see wildlife in Costa Rica! We paid a little extra for Gabriel (tour guide) and he was so awesome at spotting the critters! We saw 3 sloths (one who was very active and came right down to see us), blue jeans frogs (not red-eyed tree frogs tho), butterflies (which landed on us for pics), caimans with babies, Jesus lizards, agouti, and other insects and birds. It was nice to see them in their natural environment, and not a zoo in cages. Worth the trip!

We had a fantastic morning here. Gabriel was our tour guide and he is great. We saw 4 sloths, mom caiman with 3 babies, agouti, great sights of frogs, birds and butterflies that sat on our shoes. The telescope he carried was great. We stayed after the tour and took more photos. Great place for photography - I took my macro lens for the fogs and a tripod (low light under the trees) A must-do in Arenal and la Fortuna. Great spot for bird watchers - Gabriel's passion. (And take some of your countries coins for Gabriel - he collects them! I just sent him some from South Africa.)

WOW. what a wonderful place. this is not a zoo it is a natural reserve that is privately owned. The guide that we had was a young male ( I feel sooo bad I forgot his name) was so full of life. You could tell that is was more then just a job for him. The tour lasts about an hour and a half. You get to learn about all the wildlife they have there. Its not a boring lecture, its hands on and personal. You also get to learn about the Maleku tribe, his telling for his people is heart felt. Capi Capi!!
THIS IS A MUST GO TO WHEN AT ARENAL. Plants. Anilmals. Butterflies. You will not be let down at all. Please spray yourself with bug spay! If your lucky enough the butterflies might like the way you smell and land on you.
