We had an afternoon to spend around La Fortuna and found this place online. It's only a few km from town and we're so glad we checked it out. We opted to do the tour alone, but I'd spend the few bucks for a guide next time (although they were nice enough to point out a sloth and tiny frogs when we got to the end without finding any). The walk through the park is pretty short, but take your time because there is a lot to see. They have numerous varieties of flora including medicinal plants and orchids plus a very informative butterfly breeding area. We also saw a ton of lizards, caymen, and birds including a tucan.
At the entrance/exit you can buy souvenirs or a drink if you need and they also have washrooms. Flip flops or sandals are fine to wear, and make sure you bring a camera! If you're looking for an inexpensive and relaxing way to spend an afternoon, I'd definately check this place out.
