Nice sized and very tasty portions--my mom and I shared the fish casado (rice, beans, small salad with fish) and had fresh fruit milkshakes/juices. Waitress was very nice and all around good service. We ended up going back three times since it was so good, had good price and was just a few blocks from our hotel downtown. Mix of tourists and locals and several families with kids.

I came upon this restaurant in Lonely Planet guide which I brought along with me. The waitress noticed this and mentioned this to the owner who asked to see it since he hadn't read the account since being notified he was in it so he read it at the counter with his friend which I thought was fun.

We loved this restaurant and it was by far the best value restaurant that we visited in Costa Rica. We went a couple of times and just wish we had time for a few more visits. The fish in garlic sauce was the best we had in Costa Rica. The staff were very friendly - on our second visit we were greeted with our first names. Highly recommended.

The food is very good. The prices excellent ($6-8 for an entree). I had various types of fish and casados and they were all very good. The sideshow is excellent. The owners are lovable characters and they treat you like you've given one of them a kidney. You feel like you're in C.R. when you eat here. The place attracts a Lonely Planet crowd so it's a nice mix of characters. I don't know if this is the "best" soda, but it should be rated higher than #16 (Feb 2010).

The food here is typical CR fare. The owner is ever-present and very friendly. No one could do more to promote his restaurant than this man. Our party had a mix of dishes, from chicken and rice to the buffet offering. All was tasty, but ordinary. The beer could have been cooler and the food warmer. It's very convenient and service is fast.
