In a bike trip full of great lunches, this one was one of the best. I selected the chicken casado and was not disappointed.
We went here for lunch on the day we stayed in town at La Fortuna. The environment is fun and laid back, and so are the waiters. The food was delicous and reasonably priced. We were told they have the best bar in town, but didn't have any drinks. We really enjoyed this place and would go back again.
We were happy with our dinner here. We originally went to Don Rufino's, as it was right next to our hotel and was recommended in our guide book. We sat down and took a look at the menu, and left after seeing most of the items were $40+ USD. We've been to a lot of nice places and paid this, but didn't find anything special about the ambiance there, located on the street side and kind of a sport bar feel to it. We left and went to Lava Lounge and were happy with the variety on the menu, as well as the prices. Food was good, and atmosphere was fine. Our one waiter was a little too aloof, bordering on rude but food was good and we got everything we asked for.
We arrived mid-afternoon, just for drinks. I had just discovered the guaro sour, my new favorite drink. We sat at the bar and had really great conversation with the bartender, who had been a tour guide previously. As dog rescuers, we were delighted to see that the owner founded Costa Rica Dog Rescue, so were very happy to buy one of the Tshirts to support his efforts. Our drinks were delicious and the conversation was interesting and fun. Just cannot comment on the food.
