Our steaks are locally produced, with very high farming standards; and our seafood and fish dishes are amongst the preferred by our guests, for whom our menu also offers many vegetarian options, made with ingredients which, in most cases, are harvested in our own farm, pesticide-free.

“Busy, good food, Great Manager!”
Reviewed May 16, 2014

You have to wonder when you look in a restaurant, which was half empty, to be told there are no tables, aside from sitting at the bar. We decided to give it a try, and shortly a tour bus pulled up, and filled the empty tables.
As it turned out, the food, local fare, a smooth and creamy soup, a chicken and rice dish were great, when we finally got them. The fu part was watching the street traffic, and meeting some of our fellow dinners. Due to some Waiter mix ups, meals went to the wrong guests, but the Manager Andre, ensured to remove times from our bills, and was a true Ambassador of superior Customer service. Based on his handling of our concerns, and overall food quality, I would certainly go back, for more smiles.

“Good Food”
Reviewed May 15, 2014

Food was good, drinks were cheap, nice atmosphere. A little pricey but not terrible. Our best meal in La Fortuna.

“Unexpected Surprise!”
Reviewed May 12, 2014

My wife and I ate here two nights ago and absolutely loved this restaurant. We started with the Ensalada de la Maison, which we enjoyed. We don't love arugula but outside of that it was really good. I ordered the Tropical Bengali Chicken and my wife ordered the Risotto Kabocha. Both dishes were very good and very flavorful. The staff was very kind and the atmosphere was warm. We are likely going back for one more dinner before leaving the Arenal area.

“Reliable food and service”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

We went here on our first evening in Costa Rica, we were looking for somewhere close to our hotel after a long day of travel. Food was good, nothing special, but what I would call tasty and reliable. I felt the price was a bit high for the portion sizes, but the atmosphere, service and speed were all satisfactory.

“A pleasant small town surprise”
Reviewed May 10, 2014

I'm usually wary of ordering "adventurous" items in small-town restaurants, since it can be difficult for them to obtain the ingredients and to find someone who can prepare a complex dish. Hence, I usually order something quite basic that uses locally-found ingredients.

But the long history of Don Rufino's (three family generations) made me brave, so I ordered the grouper filet, which came with shrimp, mushrooms, and more, in a brandy reduction. Great dish, and a sizable portion! That and a papaya smoothie was all I needed. The menu is quite eclectic, but I would recommend staying with those dishes that use local ingredients.
