Description: Our cuisine features a contemporary concept, influenced by the classic European cuisine, Asia and Latin America, from an eloquent and modern perspective. Our steaks are locally produced, with very high farming standards; and our seafood and fish dishes are amongst the preferred by our guests, for whom our menu also offers many vegetarian options, made with ingredients which, in most cases, are harvested in our own farm, pesticide-free.

Four of us chose 4 different dishes, and all liked them, but mine was the most unusual--"Pollo al estilo de la abuela", Grandma's Chicken, came wrapped in banana leaves. The waiter cut into the wrapping with style, and I enjoyed my dinner!

This was a good spot if you are staying at a resort outside of town and want a night in La Fortuna. The service was very good and the food delicious. They were out of a few items later in the evening but there was plenty to choose from. The tuna tartare served in sesame cones was unique and delicious. My meal actually came in a carved out pineapple. We eat out frequently and this was a fun casual spot with good food and worth the trip into the town center

We made reservations at Don Rufino based on what I had read in guidebooks. Admittedly, the location on a busy street corner in downtown La Fortuna was appealing, but our dining experience left a lot to be desired. Overall, it was extremely warm and loud inside. Upon sitting down at the table, just like at every other restaurant on our trip, we ordered a bottle of water. This was before we received the menu and we were brought a USD 9 small bottle of Fiji (there were much larger bottles as choices for USD 3). This just really left a bad taste in our mouth and tainted the rest of the meal. My husband ordered grandma's chicken which was dry and I had the tropical chicken served in a pineapple which was just okay. The meal was actually one of the most expensive we had and honestly the one we liked the least. I would head somewhere else for dinner in La Fortuna!

Great service and great food! They take reservations and you should call ahead as they get very busy. But, they went out of their way to work our party of six in with no notice.

Very good food with average sized portions however this restaurant is quite expensive compared to others in CR.
