Excellent tour and worth the cost as the money goes to the great work these people are doing. Numerous interesting animals, birds etc and a very informative guide. The site is quite small and a distance away from La Fortuna.

Very interesting tours. Our main tour guide was Gabriel and he is excellent. We saw many creatures that we may have missed on our own. The butterfly garden is excellent. If you only have time for one activity, do this!
There is a museum of the work of the native people. That tour was excellent also.
Highly recommend.

My husband & I went to Costa Rica recently & spent 4 days in the La Fortuna area. We visited Proyecto Asis while there & it was one of our favorite things we did. Loved interacting with the aminals. We did the volunteering where you get to stick around & feed the animals. It was a lot of fun & the guides are very knowlegeable & willing to answer any questions. They are doing a really great thing to help these animals in need. Your fee goes toward rehibilitating the amimals, which is terrific. Bring bug spray & a camera!! If you are an animal lover this is an awesome way to spend part of your day!!

Hola Carrie L,
Thank you very much for your support and for sharing your experience. We really appreciate it. At this very moment, there's a lot of work being done to make new enclosures for the animals. The fee paid really allows this work to be done, so once again we thank you for your help.

My family and I did the Volunteer Tour and were paired up with about 7 other people who were just excited as we were. Our guide was Carlos and he did an excellent job of educating us on the wildlife of Costa Rica. We had the chance to meet and feed Perla their White-lipped Peccary and many other animals at the rescue center. The priority here is to get the animals back into the wild as soon as possible, for those that can't be released they are lucky enough to call this place home. I'm really surprised at the people who say that a visit here isn't worth it. We learned so much about the animals, were able to get close to animals that we wouldn't be able to if they were in the wild, and were also able to support a worthy cause. Our kids had fun helping to prepare "dinner" for the animals and then actually being able to feed them! It was time well spent!

Notes: Wear suncreen and bug spray. Bring water, your camera, and a light rain jacket just in case.

Proyecto Asis was the highlight of my trip. We had 4 people (mid-20's) in our party and were paired with a couple for the "volunteer" tour option.

I highly recommend volunteering while visiting Proyecto Asis. I am leaving out some details as I wouldn't want to spoil the experience for anyone! Let's just say it is truly worth it.

While waiting for our tour to start we saw a local forest ranger bring in a rescued raccoon.

Carlos was amazing. You couldn't ask for a better guide. So knowledgeable, CLEARLY loves what he is doing, goes over ever detail of the animals, and a pleasure to chat with (my group is notorious for asking a lot of questions!).

I am seriously considering finding a way out of work for a few weeks to really volunteer at this site.

Proyecto Asis was an eye-opening, memorable experience.

Thank Jennifer D

Hola Jennifer,

Our guides prepare themselves and do their best every single day. We are so glad you had an 'Amazing experience' and want to thank you for sharing it with us. The volunteering activity is the most wanted for people as it allows people extra interaction and feeding the animals, let's not say too much.
Thank you for sharing the great afro monkey picture. We really appreciate the visit and support.
