“Good Food”
Reviewed August 30, 2014

Bit pricey but there's a good selection on the menu and their food was good. Service was also good. Enjoyed the traditional way of serving coffee - be sure to order a coffee so you can see this.

“Delicious meal.”
Reviewed August 20, 2014

Upon being dropped off in La Fortuna, we asked our taxi driver where's a good place to eat. He recommended La Choza. The place isn't fancy....an outdoor eating area with picnic tables, but the food was really good and staff was friendly. There was something for everyone in my family. I had sirloin kabobs, husband and daughter had comida tipica and they made a special vegetarian dish for my other daughter. We had local beer (Imperial and Pilsen) and they were nice and cold. The smoothies were really good too. A little pricey, but worth it.

“Prices are a little high but the food is good”
Reviewed August 16, 2014

If you have just arrived after a long flight then you are hungry and you don't really care much about the prices - it didn't even cross our minds, we were starving!
We noticed locals dine here too so it can't be a place just for tourists or too expensive.
The service was warm and welcoming and the menu would cater for pretty much everyone's needs. We both had the special of the day, a kind of beef stew with 5 or 6 different root vegetables and beef. It was simply delicious and filling. Oh, it comes with rice and a tortilla as if all those veggies weren't enough!
Each dish cost almost a whopping $9 or 4,750 colones. But don't forget food in CR is very expensive in general. A plate of typical food in a soda costs between $5 or 2,500 to $6 or 3,000 so the prices are not too bad really.
We really liked the green sauce in the bottle that you are supposed to put on rice.

“Great roast chicken”
Reviewed August 13, 2014

We live part of the year in Costa Rica and have eaten at La Choza several times. While it is pricey (if you have a few beers), we feel that the wood fired roast chicken is worth the price. La Fortuna is a tourist destination and any number of tour buses stop here during the day. The wait staff are attired in colorful outfits (sorry but we don't know the origin of these costumes) but they provide a festive atmosphere. We have a small dog and they have allowed us to sit at a table near the rear which we definitely appreciate. Two thumbs and one paw up for La Choza de Laurel. BTW - there is a sister restaurant near the airport at Liberia which also serves tasty cuisine. Bill and Linda Gossard

“Good (but Pricey) Tipico Food”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

I ate at La Choza recently with a large group of friends. The menu choices were ample and are representative of typical Costa Rican food. Everyone around me seemed to enjoy their meal. Our waitress did a great job remembering who ordered what. This is a place where the wait staff wears a "typico" costume and the food is a bit pricey; I'd say it's geared toward tourists.
