We asked a number of locals where to go for a late lunch and unanimously we were told La Choza de Laurel. They all insisted that it had the best Costa Rican food in town and we became believers!
The open-air restaurant was fabulous and as soon as we began eating we could see why they are known for their typical Costa Rican dishes! The ambiance is worth the visit and the delicious cuisine will have you coming back for more! We ate a late lunch here before heading back to Los Lagos for the night after a day of shopping in La Fortuna.
The steaks that were cooked in the giant rotisserie were out of this world - Lomo a la Parrilla. All of the meat dishes were perfectly cooked and seasoned. There were a number of “ohhs” and “ahhs” at our table. The arroz con pollo was a big hit at our table as well as the divine Pina Coladas that are served in giant pineapples! The coladas are so good it is way too hard to stop at just one! The 6 year old had plenty of options and the adults were more then satisfied.
We were kind of surprised that the Special of the Day was 25 dollars, as everything else on the menu was half as much. So, if you order the delicious special, ask how much the special is before you order it so you are not shocked when your bill arrives.
Service was impeccable and the food presentation was outstanding. The staff went over and above to accommodate our table. The server was playful with our six year old and had everyone smiling. The women wear dresses representing different regions daily and were also quite charming.
If you are in La Fortuna I would suggest this restaurant as a great option.
