“A great alternative to the big 2 Hot Springs in La Fortuna, food is good too!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2014

Ecotermales is a smaller operation than Tabacon and Baldi in La Fortuna. If you want the party, go to Baldi, if you want deluxe with the price to match, go to Tabacon. They are both really nice, just a bit different that Ecotermales.

Ecotermales has a max capacity, so you will never be elbowed out at the bar getting a drink, well maybe, the fresh drinks are super. I made reservations and paid on line, which was really easy. You have the option of purchasing just entry tickets or entry tickets and a meal.

You enter in, get checked in and are given a key for the lockers, a towel and directions to the lockers/shower area. Nothing special there, lockers and hot showers, but clean. I recommend you take a change of clothes and a plastic bag to put your wet clothing in when you change. Wear sandals or flip flops, you will not need any additional footwear. From there you proceed down to the pools, there are only 4 springs, a couple large ones, 1 cold one and 1 that is really hot! They are crystal clear, all done is a grey rock which also surrounds the pools. Day or night, it is beautiful and peaceful.

You can go in the morning or the evening. I have done both, the evening is nice, the lighting in the springs and surrounding grounds is beautiful. I recommend grabbing a lounge chair and staking out a space, it can be difficult to get one if it is busy. Don't take anything you can not live without to the springs, I have never had a problem, but why take a chance.

Now for the important stuff. The drinks are great!! It is a honor bar, you order, drink and then let them know when you check out how many you have had. All the drinks, both alcohol and non alcohol are made fresh with your choice of fruit. Wonderful!!

I have had both lunch and dinner there. I enjoyed both, it is served family style with rice, fresh veggies, salad, juice water or wine if you wish. You may chose either chicken or beef. I recommend the chicken, the beef was not really great. We really enjoyed eating as a family at the large table after soaking in the wonderful springs.

You can not go wrong at any of the hot springs, but Ecotermales is a excellent value, clean, family friendly and the drinks are great! Enjoy

“Beautiful landscape and not crowded!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2014

This is a fantastic hot spring resort to visit! I think it is worth paying a little extra money for the smaller crowds and more intimate setting. The landscape is beautiful with a very natural feel to it. Kid friendly with different pools and water temperatures to choose from. A few small trails you can walk leading to the springs. It is designed with a succession of pools so it goes from hotter to cooler, allowing you to pick the temperature you want! Definitely bring your camera you will want to take pictures! Recommend to arrive within the first hour they open, less crowds.

“Stay for dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2014

Facilities were clean and not too crowded, although we were there around dusk so maybe crowds dwindled.
Pools towards the left were hottest and they get less hot as you move down towards the main bar. Staying for dinner is the real treat. It's typical Tico food but with a little extra care. You can also get cocktails at the springs and dinner which was very nice.

“Quaint, clean, and comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2014

We were pleased with the small size and the fewer people. They limit the # of people who can enter during any one block of time. There were howler monkeys in the trees when we arrived which is always fun. The springs were clean and wonderful. The pina coladas were fantastic! Best we've ever had!

“Just right”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2014

This is the perfect ending to a day of rappelling and whitewater rafting. The stone pools are tranquil and clean and hot---just right for soothing sore muscles. I can't compare to other hot springs as Ecotermales was the only one we visited but it priced halfway between Baldi and Tabacon. You need to reserve in advance because there is a quota for entry since the springs are not too large. My only complaint is that for the price, I feel they should have hot water for the showers afterwards. Who wants a cold shower after luxuriating in hot springs?
