“Awesome location away from the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

We stayed at Royal Corin for our honeymoon in July. We flew into San Jose and rented a car at the airport. It was nice being able to drive around Costa Rica. We did 2hrs 1/2 drive to La Fortuna to get to our hotel. The sight seeing was incredible and worth the drive. You get free parking and you can see the Arenal Volcano from outside your room. They also had several hot springs. Other locations in Fortuna are the Butterfly Conservatory, Arenal Lake, Arenal Volcano Observatory, Catarata (waterfall).

For the zip line we decided to drive out of town and drive another 2hrs 1/2 to Miramar. It was worth the drive and the zip lines was amazing. We did the tour that consisted of 25 zip line cables that stretched over 11 waterfalls, two rappels, 1 hanging bridge, an off road tour, the option to swim, and free lunch. Below is the website if interested.

Beach: Jaco Beach
Make sure to stop by this beach it is beautiful. You can park your car under the palm trees or close to the restaurant parking spots. Great sea food location to eat out (ate at the Malecon Bar Restaurant)

We only had 4 days to spend in Costa RIca so we decided to just stay in one place. We chose the Arenal Volcano area and with that the Royal Corin. It was the best place to stay. We had the opportunity to see a few other hotels while we were there and it confirmed we had made the best choice. The hotel is modern and clean. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and speak English perfectly. We had a junior suite at the far end of the hotel that was private and beautiful. Felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. It was just as their website photographed and better. No surprises or disappointments. The bed and sheets were so comfortable. View is incredible.

Room Tip: End rooms are junior suites. Pick ones higher up and furthest from parking lot/main street.

Who wants to feel spoiled while on vacation? We do!

Ok. Truth be told, Ricky and I are humble travellers. We have bunked in with buddies at hostels and have soaked in the finer amenities offered by all-inclusive resorts. We have learned firsthand what differentiates economy, standard, and superior hotels, and we know that we do not need one particular upgrade over another in order to enjoy an accommodation experience. Since we have found comfort and security at countless hotels (ranging in price), we tend to travel on a budget. Regardless of whether or not we need to, we choose to do so in order to spend our money on the things that matter to us the most. When it comes to travel, it is our preference to prioritize participation in tours and activities over accommodations, so we rarely dedicate a large chunk of a trip budget to where we sleep at night. In fact, throughout our travels (and in life), Ricky and I are most often happiest with the basics.

But let’s be honest. Every once and a while we need to treat ourselves. Isn’t that the point of most vacations anyway? To cheat on our busy, hectic, overwhelming, stressful, difficult, demanding lives for a few days (or weeks, if you’re lucky)? Sometimes we just need to delve into luxury to remind ourselves of that which we work so hard for the rest of the year, no? If you agree, you’re in luck. Have we got a great recommendation for you.

We love Royal Corin in La Fortuna/Arenal, Costa Rica. Even the name sounds luxurious. Fortunately, the title does the hotel justice as guests are treated like royalty from the moment they arrive. If a welcome cocktail, superior service, and high quality room amenities are not enough, just wait until you spend the day relaxing in the hotel’s on-site hot springs with a clear view of the Arenal Volcano directly in front of you (don’t miss the hotel’s secluded jacuzzis hidden away from the primary pools, as well as the hotel’s sauna/steam room). La Fortuna/Arenal accommodations simply do not get more relaxing and exclusive than this up-scale resort-quality hotel.

It’s design is modern chic. Clean, contemporary, and classy. Beyond this, the atmosphere is calming and inviting. Upon our most recent visit, Ricky and I couldn’t help but feel deserving of our stay. Not in a pretentious way of course, but the hotel makes it easy for guests to simply sit back and enjoy the entire experience, merely inviting travellers to reap the rewards of the nightly stay they have earned. Looking for the wow factor? Not only can this hotel check off just about every item you have on your accommodations wishlist, but its on-site hot springs come complete with in-pool stone lounge chairs and tables. That’s right. As if a good soak in the hot springs at the base of the volcano (yet, steps from your room) was not convenient and comforting enough, you can stretch out on your own lounge chair, soaking up the sun’s rays above you and sipping on a cold one beside you all at once.

If you ever get the chance to travel to Costa Rica and you are looking for luxury in the La Fortuna/Arenal area of the country, Royal Corin is the best option available. Not only is the hotel located just outside of the downtown La Fortuna core, but it is close to many of the popular activities (such as ziplining, hanging bridges, volcano tours, etc.) that draw travellers to the destination in the first place. While the La Fortuna/Arenal area is flooded with great accommodation options ranging in style, size, and price, Royal Corin is the cornerstone of lavishness – ideal for honeymooners, couples, and travellers who regularly appreciate (or would like to treat themselves to) an opulent accommodation experience. Pure indulgence at its finest.

We had a wonderful time at the Hotel Royal Corin. All of the amenities were great, especially the hot springs. We stayed in a Junior Suite and highly recommend it. We relaxed in comfort yet were still able to go on adventures within 30 minutes of the hotel (we did a Sky Walk tour and waterfall repelling...but there is so much more!) The staff was also incredibly helpful and friendly. They seem to really enjoy interacting with tourists and teaching you about their beautiful country.

This was a wonderful hotel. The room, food service, and pools were terrific. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet, which is included, was an amazing deal. It was a short drive to the Arenal volcano.

Room Tip: We were in 201, which is at the end of the hotel. We had a great view of the volcano (and yes, we ha...

After reading reviews on tripadvisor, we booked this hotel through cheapcaribbean. We took a 3 hour ride to get to the hotel from the San Jose airport, and after that long and windy ride, the hotel was so beautiful. Our room was big with the best bathroom, we've seen in a long time. Our view of the volcano was spectacular. We were a little weary of the food, bc of the reviews we saw on here, but both my mother and I never had a bad meal, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They booked our excursions for all of our days on our first day, set up our transportation to go back to the airport. The spa is absolutely beautiful. A special oasis, and the massages are to die for. The hot springs are so nice and relaxing. They have 3 springs with 3 different temperatures and a swim up bar. The hotel is a short ride from town, which is a fun thing to go walk around and explore. There are so many things to do in this area! We would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely come back!

Room Tip: All of the rooms have a view of the volcano!

We were extremely happy with our choice to stay at Royal Corin. We had four stops in Costa Rica and this turned out to be the highlight. The view from the room was incredible (all of the rooms have views of the hot springs and Arenal). Everyone at the hotel was very helpful. We both got messages at the spa and we very pleased with them. There's a long list of specialty drinks at the swim up bar and they were all good to outstanding. We planned to go into town for a lot of our meals but we were pleasantly surprised by the food and reasonable prices at the hotel so we ended up having most of our meals there.
