“Grecia's Best Kept Secret”
Reviewed April 19, 2014

I found my time at La Terraza Guest House a great experience. First , I loved my room. It was comfortable, well light, with a comfortable bed and guest table with chairs. I loved the rocking chairs on the gallery over looking the fabulous gardens. The food was delicious and best of all the conversation with Mrs. Owens. She treats her guests like family. Her driver and cook provide excellent service and very tasty food. Being there was a retreat from the cares of the world.

I would not hesitate to recommend La Terraza.

We spent two nights in Jeanetta's B&B while "scouting" properties to live in for our upcoming retirement in Grecia. We stayed in the apartment - although we did not book it - Jeanetta gave our suite to another guest who inquired about space, so she "upgraded" us to the apartment, it is located above a gentle river with water cascading over the rocks, we never closed our patio door, how wonderful to go to sleep to that sound! The gardens are beautiful and the entire property was very clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious - made to order - Christina is a great cook! Our only disappointment, and the reason we did not rate the property at a "5"? When it came to paying our final bill Jeanetta asked if we were paying in cash, we said no, we would pay with a credit card. She told us she did not accept credit cards......!? The web site clearly stated that she did! We paid in cash, which kind of skimped our available funds for the rest of our trip. So be aware of this fact and be perfectly clear on "the rules" when you book.

Thank you so much for your nice review. Im sorry that there was a misunderstanding concerning payment by Credit Card. We have been accepting credit cards for more than 10 years. What I was telling you is that there is an additional 4% charge for using your credit card for payment. All accomodations and most stores in Costa Rica charge this additional cost. So, I thought by giving you the option to pay cash, this would give you an additional savings in addition to the substantial 35.00 a night savings you received when upgraded to the apartment.

We enjoyed you and hope that you will return someday.

Thanks,
Jeanetta

stayed at La Terraza this February for one week. Having never been to Costa Rica we didn't know what to expect. The staff and property exceeded our expectations. Great breakfast especially the Gallo Pinto (thank you Christina) and the special french toast! Jeanetta is a wise world traveler with a wit and a wealth of knowledge. We truly enjoyed talking with her. If you needed something, Jeanetta knew where and how from restaurants to attractions to curing sun burn!!We have been home for two days and already miss the family feeling of LaTerazza. You will really enjoy this property

La Terraza was absolutely fabulous! I highly recommend staying at this wonderful little bed and breakfast. We stayed in the apartment overlooking lush gardens and a soothing river. We arrived in mid-afternoon with a lovely lunch awaiting us in our apartment. Jeanetta is a beautiful soul! We enjoyed a delightful breakfast on the patio every morning filled with interesting conversations and much laughter. Dinner at the Galleria in town is amazing. We highly recommend dining there as well.

We enjoyed a relaxing stay at la Terraza. Jeanetta is an insightful hostess who provides the best hospitality. Her wonderful team offers the best service and caters to all our needs. Coming back to the comfortable room with a lush garden view and the sounds of the river made one feels right at home!

Room Tip: La Vista is the best for view.

Breakfast every morning was excellent. The rooms were clean. The area is beautiful too. The help there are very honest as I left $400 American setting in the open when we left for the day and it was there when we got back. I was then advised by the owner that her help had told her about the money and they said I should start putting my money away. Lots to do in the surrounding area, Poas volcano, La Paz Waterfall & Botanical Gardens. The locals are very pleasant and nice people. Jeanetta is very nice and delightful to be around. She is also very accommodating to her guest's needs.

Room Tip: A stream runs through the middle of the property and the ambient noise at night was great. I'd a...

If you want the comfort and experience of visiting family on a first visit to Costa Rico, I highly recommend La Terraza Guest House. I was humbled by the level of service and willingness at every turn to make my stay nothing short of amazing, and it was! The rooms are airy and bright with terraces and breathtaking views. Jeanetta and her wonderful staff are so friendly and warm I guarantee you, you will be hugging them like family before you leave. It's a great place to relax and unwind and be at peace. Coming home, I felt like I shed a couple hundred pounds. Thank you so much!

Room Tip: I've been in every room and apartment. I loved them all. The apartment below "La Bella"...
