“Nice place to stay near the SJO airport for a reasonable price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012

I have stayed here a number of times when I had flights that came in too late or left too early to travel between the airport and the Caribbean coast. The rooms are small and clean and the staff is very nice and helpful. The man at reception made several calls for a taxi in the morning to make sure that I was not going to get charged the "Gringo" rate. There is a very good Italian restaurant around the corner. Great Breakfast. Roberto and Ivannia are great hosts.

Room Tip: rooms are available with or without a private bath.

the staff member jacquelyne was soo helpful [an example to the others who work there] to us and really helped us out when our friend was sick. she went beyond and had a smile, always there to help, she was our first introduction to costa rican people and set our holiday off to a good start. i would recommend staying here if you want a chilled out place and to avoid the cess pool of san jose. seriously though this staff member and the other ladies who work here are amazing... the breakfast is also delicious, i just could eat about 3times

Room Tip: book ahead as it fills up quick

No air conditioner. Little privacy even in the private bathroom room. Lady at front desk was awesome, very helpful.

We stayed here after flying into San Jose. This place is like a nice hostel with private (or shared- depending on your budget) rooms. The place is fairly inexpensive and minimal. What I loved the most was the breakfast that is included- a typical Tico breakfast with rice, beans, eggs and coffee or hot chocolate. This place is not fancy, but perfect for the traveler on a budget. This place is also VERY mellow at night so if your group is loud, plan on going out or to another place.

This affordable hotel is a great place from which to explore the central valley and to arrive or leave from the airport. Very clean, well maintained, and friendly service. Breakfast on the patio included. Alajuela is a joy to walk around and safe in the evenings. And the coffee...... uh I love Costa Rica!

Room Tip: We booked a room with shared bathroom. No problem at all.

Why go all the way into San Jose when you can stay here? We had a very positive experience with each of our three stays at Mi Tierra. The price is right, the location is ideal, and the people are great. Alajuela has a lot to offer too.
