“Mediocre food, mediocre service, mediocre rooms”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

We had dinner and spent the night there in there cabins. Dinner was really average, muy fish was salty and over cooked, the other dish was missing more flavor. Dessert was the worse, the shouldn´t offer that thing if they are not prepare to serve sometime to be proud of. There was live music and was nice to hang out for a while there, but definely wouldn´t go there again just for the food . The "waiters" where 2 or 3 boys with no uniform, hard to identified between the clients and talked to you very unformally and with no training in restaurant service.
The cabins or cottages are super basic for $60 per night, you should get a little bit more. They are missing all kind of decor, details, nice beds (target are couples, it should be nicer and romantic), didn´t have glasses in the room, towers and sheets are in really bad shape, our sheet had a whole were you can see the matress through it and was not fixed to the matress so you needed to make the bed like 10 times during the stay. They set ceiling chinese lamps with 3 bulbs but only one worked per lamp. There is lack of many things there, I wouldn´t imagined it due Jaulares is popular in town but now I don´t really understand why besides the concerts. The same family has another restaurant/rooms just 2 kms away called Chubascos (different Managers), Jaulares should learn about service, quality and details from them.

“Great atmosphere!”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Check for live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Bring a light jacket or sweater. Have a good, typical Costa Rican meal cooked on an open fire, enjoy some good music and affordable drinks and really cool off. It is up the mountain from Alajuela about 20-30 minutes and worth it to cool off in the Costa Rican summer...Jan-May.
