Stayed overnight before our trip back to the states. The hotel was nice but the music was too loud in the lobby. I much prefer quieter lobbies. Also, I was offended by the Hooters restaurant next door. Hasn't this disgusting American chain gone out of business yet??? Women should boycott that place!

Staff nice and room lovely. Pool small and unattractive looking.

Room Tip: They have some good snacks to get before your flight.

Dear Care:
Thank you very much for taking the time to review our hotel and sharing your experience with trip advisor readers, we will adjust the volume of the music at the lobby to reduce the negative impact in our guests. Our lobby is a great place to enjoy the night and we offer live music on wednesdays with a local musician with positive results to enhance the experience of local customers and our guests.
In addition or location offers a brand new plaza with several restaurants and options for you to enjoy in addition to our restaurant, offering more options to choose from. I will share your comments with our staff to motivate them to continue working hard to exceed guests expectations an d creating memorable experiences of our hotel and Costa Rica.
Hope to see you soon in the next future,
Pura Vida ;)

I live in Costa Rica, but travel frequently to the motherland. When I do, I always spend the night in this hotel. I love that it's so close to the airport - less than 5 minutes by free shuttle. The staff is always very friendly, and being almost a brand-new hotel - it is impeccable. Great soundproofing because you never hear the planes. Nice gym. The cons? The swimming pool is small and VERY cold! The in-house restaurant is expensive and not a lot of selection. However, there is a Walmart right next door, so my trick is to go there for dinner in their buffet, where the food is cheap and very good. I also stock up on breakfast goodies (yogurt, juice, fresh-baked pastry, fruit). It's also handy if you get to your room and find out you forgot to pack a toothbrush! Overall, this might not be the cheapest hotel around, but a cab ride from Santa Ana or Escazu is $25-$30 and the ride is bumper-to-bumper traffic for a morning flight. Staying at this hotel for an early morning flight becomes a no-brainer.

Room Tip: I like the rooms in the front of the hotel, you can see the planes come in. The rooms on the other s...

Dear Lori:
We really appreciate your comment and taking the time to review and sharing your experience with readers, definitely you are contributing to our commitment of delivering great service and create lasting memories of guests visiting Costa Rica. Highlighting our soundproofing building to isolate the noise from the street and the airport was great since owners and investors did a great job taking care of every detail to offer a great product near to the airport and close to the main roads heading towards tourist attractions in the coast and the central valley. Also would like to share with all that we are in the process to adjust our Menu including local and regional flavors to satisfy guest demands as well as the newly Plaza Mango located in front of our hotel.
Certainly traffic might be difficult during pick hours and taxis are charging from $25 to $30 USD to San Jose Downtown or Escazu, you can also use public transportation by using our shuttle to the airport and then transfer to the bus station where you will have to pay from $2 to 4 USD for a ride to San Jose, feel free to ask for directions at our front desk the next time you are planning to visit our facility. We are waiting for your next visit to our hotel and if I can be of further assistance please don’t hesitate to let me know at marco.quinteros@courtyard.com

Pros:
Great for a late arrival to Costa Rica or as easy access to the airport for an early morning flight out - about 1/2 an hour closer than San Jose.
The free shuttle from the hotel runs every half hour and the airport is less than 10 minutes away.
The hotel rooms are exactly like their counterparts in this Marriott chain; very generic with very clean bed and bathrooms; plenty of towels, TV, A/C, a coffee maker, hair dryer, with access to computers, an outdoor pool (not heated), a work out room, etc.

Cons:
The quality of the food at the restaurant is fine but a little pricy; the service is slow to very slow.
Given the usual high quality offered by this chain, I was surprised at the inferior quality of the toilet paper!
This is a fairly new hotel and not within walking distance of much of anything - unless Walmart is high on your list of destinations.
It seems that most taxi drivers I used in Alejuela and the surrounding towns were not familiar with this hotel but did get me here after some conversation including the word "Walmart."

Over all:

I wish there was a way to infuse some of the culture and color of the surrounding city/country but you can rely on the high standards of a Courtyard by Marriott experience. They are eager to provide a pleasant stay and strive to be responsive to your needs.

Room Tip: I had a room on the sixth floor and it was very quiet.

Dear Guest:
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, we appreciate the opportunity you gave us to adjust and reinforce procedures with our team to enhance and exceed the experience expectations that our guests have. Our hotel began operations in August 2012 and we are working every day to position ourselves within local people and drivers but certainly still a way to go, as a point of reference would like to suggest telling drivers that we are located in the newest Plaza Mango Park in the radial heading towards Alajuela. I will also review with our housekeeping team the details of our room amenities to ensure we are in compliance with our brand standards. I would like to share with you and readers that we are located in Plaza Mango opened a week ago and offering several restaurants and retail stores for your convenience.
Appreciate your recognition to our staff they are doing a great work every day and they are willing to learn and go beyond their way to assist all our guest this is the greatest asset we possess and I will be more than happy to share your comment with them.
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to serve you during your visit to Costa Rica and don’t hesitate to let us know the next time you are visiting our hotel.

We recently attended a wedding in Cartago, staying at the Courtyard hotel near the San Jose airport for two evenings. It was very pleasant experience, the staff was very accommodating and the service was excellent. The free shuttle to and from the airport was a definite plus. We will certainly stay there in the future.

Brand new place, easy to find and indeed opposite the airport,

Checkin could be a bit more friendly: "I don't have a reservation for you", without really trying to find it amongst possible misspellings. However, the gum chewing check-in agent changed his attitude after the Marriott Rewards number was given and even helped with the baggage.

All staff were totally fantastic, friendly and eager to make our stay pleasant.

Room Tip: Some rooms on the front may suffer from very noisy trucks at adjacnt Wallmart and uphill traffic on...

This place is a good choice for either a business travel or leisure. It is located near the airport; however it´ll take additional time to get to the downtown. Consider the heavy traffic in the rush hours, when making appointments, in the city.
The rooms are wonderful. The Restaurant lacks of privacy, too close from the entrance for those who look for a separate environment. But still, there are good options and enough variety in the menu.

Room Tip: Pick any. Try the upper levels.

After a busy day in the jungle riding atvs and zip lining this was the perfect place to lay my head as we traveled through Costa Rica! Clean bedding room and bathroom and fancy looking without the fancy money. All I could say if they offered free breakfast they would take Hampton inn an holiday inn off the map (exaggerating but true)
