Description: This restaurant had the best food and service of all the places where we ate in Costa Rica. Family owned and always on site. Cozy, very clean, and surrounded by beautiful vegetation. Friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend the casados, a local dish - delicious! I ate it in other restaurants but it couldn't be compared to Chubascos. I swear I could eat that every day. For dessert, try the home made apple pie (Costa Rican apples) and the arroz con leche. Ah, and do not forget to try their natural fruit drinks. Their coffee is pretty good too.

“Delicious food and refrescos”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2013

I stopped here after a tour of the Doka Estate for a strawberry refresco and a meat/tortilla appetizer (can't remember what it is called). The service was great, the food was delicious, and the setting is wonderful. The prices are okay, but not cheap. Delicious food though.

“Great place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2013 via mobile

This restaurant is the best restaurant in Alajuela.
I really like this place, the food is very delicious and you can appreciate the weather of Poas.
The food is typical food like homemade.

“Great meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2013

After hiking around Poas we were hungry/ tired and ready for a big meal. With no destination in mind we just happened upon Chubascos. What a gem! The atmosphere is farmhouse/ rustic and comfortable. My wife had the special of pulled pork with various sides all served on a cheese flat bread. She still is looking for a comparable recipe for the cheese bread.I ordered a local bouillon that is only served on Sundays. What a treat! A huge bowl of root vegetables served on the side of a bowl of broth with a large piece of stewed beef. The more veggies you added the better the fish became. We finished the meal with house made cheesecake with blackberries and strong Costa Rican coffee from the plantation down the road. Do yourself a favor and stop.

“Good Costa Rican food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2013 via mobile

On our way back to San Jose from visiting the Poas volcano, we stopped at this restaurant and had the Casado, which was delicious. I had read good reviews and they were correct. The staff is also very friendly.

“Chuleta Chubasco...definitely worth the wait”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

I visited the Poas area last weekend and had lunch at Chubascos. I asked about the Chuleta Chubasco (chuleta=pork chop) and the waiter warned me it could take up to 30 min to be ready. The wait was totally worth it. The best pork chop I've had in years. Not for small stomachs though :)
