“Costa Rica Volcano & Resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2012

This place is a dream come true. The Garden is unbelievable with beautiful flowers, trees, streams and waterfall. This is a spa resort and the bar is located in the middle of the swimming pool, so don't drink too much as fall off your stool. The backdrop is a live volcano where you can see the "steam" coming out of the mountainside. Here is the link to take a look at this paradise! http://www.arenal.net/tour/arenal-hot-springs/

“Juan Carlos Serrano”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2012

My hubby and I were staying at the Treehouse lodge in SantaClara Costa Rica where Mark the owner suggested this trip. Arenal Volcano and Baldi Hot Springs Tour (night) Juan along with his son Edwardo picked us up right on time!
Took us straight away to see the volcano. Juan was so informative, we could have been on a National Geographic episode. Through the entire ride we asked many many questions regarding the specifics of Costa Rica (possibly planing to retire here) Juan was very happy to answer all questions. He had warm DRY clothes for both of us as we were drenched (as in most days this is their rainy season). Edwardo; assisted in all steps along the way ever playing the best gentleman. Opening and closing the door for us and even posing for a picture

“Baldi vs. Tabacon Hot Springs”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2012

I bought evening passes to both hot springs (includes buffet dinner and access to spa from 5p-9p) as I was unsure which one to go to. If you want to go to both, I highly suggest going to Baldi first before Tabacon so you can fairly compare both. In addition, take a stroll around the hot springs before you eat since you will not be able to enjoy the scenery when it gets dark. It's a hard decision to make since each has a different atmosphere and there is a pretty big price difference between the two. However, you get what you pay for.
Baldi ($28 without transportation) feels like being in a Jurassic Park amusement park/block party with upbeat music playing. It has a very fun feeling and has some covered pools in case it rains. However, the dinner buffet has a small selection and was only okay (2.5 stars). Also, all of their showers are cold which is uncomfortable when used at night.

Tabacon ($70 without transportation), on the other hand, feels like you're in a nice spa. They had clean showers with hot water and space for you to change in the shower. It is also built around a running river which carries water heated by the volcano while Baldi's water is pumped into their pools. Their food was delicious (4.5 stars) - with much bigger and tastier selection of food. Tabacon's pools did not have any overhead cover for rain.
