Very near from the airport ,In a safe naiberhood notting like san jose, The place is not new but its very clean and cozy. Amazing dog! Johny the owner was very kind and was happy to help us with our trip. Had nice talk on the balcony enjoying the ''imperial'' and a shot of cacique =)

We did not esitate to come back at the end of our stay in costa-rica and to reccomend it to all our friends. We heard some horor storys of people trying to find there hotel in san-jose after taking a bus from the airport...

Overall I highly reccomended the place!

Pura vida =)

Room Tip: there is a quieter room in the back but there few bucks more, the dorms are cheaper and the chances are would will have them for your own

Less than 10 minutes hike from the international airport! Very peaceful, relaxing, safe, clean, simply comfortable, affordable, easy to find. Perfect for budget traveller's first or last night in Costa Rica. John is a wonderful host, very helpful and friendly. His mom is a nice person also. It is a warm welcoming relaxing "oasis" in hectic airport atmosphere and somewhat strange but typical for Costa Rica neighborhood. I hiked there from the airport in early everning, and left early morning next day, it was fine. I am not sure if it is totaly safe to hike there in dark but it is always easy to take a taxi. You can hear some airport traffic noise at night but it is not bothering for somebody who is tired after trip. There are warm water, shampoo and shower gel in the shower which is rare for inexpensive hotels like that in Costa Rica.TV and WiFi are in room. Computer is available at the office desk. There are couple little cozy places with tables and chairs upstairs, one is in front on the balcony with mountain view, and the other one is near the window with the view of the little garden at the backyard.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back are probably quiter

The good: Right in front of the airport terminal. Taxi $4 to airport. Can't get any cheaper. Very inexpensive room rate. very friendly owner. Rooms are upstairs of a private home. The not so good: Very basic accommodation, a bed a fan and a clean bathroom. Clean where you can see. Not so clean where you can't see. Check below the bed. TV caked with dust. Good for night before departure. Neighborhood feels and looks rough. I would not advise it for women traveling alone.

This place is quaint and personal. Our whole family stayed the night before a flight out (super convenient to airport, btw) and had fun hanging out. Rooms are simple and the noise from the highway traffic takes some getting used to, especially after having been in the jungle for a while. But you can't beat the price for what you get; it's on our list of recommendations for travelers with late or early flights.
