“Great Fun ...”
Reviewed October 3, 2011

I have stayed here quite a bit over the past few years. Me and my family always stay here when we come up for the Alabama Games!!! The rooms and the facilities are all first class. The staff has always been courteous and are always willing to go above and beyond to help! Yellowhammer Inn is a great place for business or family fun!! We love the layout and the hospitality suite with the outside deck overlooking the lake is fantastic.

I have stayed here several times and love the quiet, intimate setting. This place is gorgeous. You also have access to world class golf, swimming and dining. This is an excellent place to stay whenever you are in or around Tuscaloosa.

We had a group of roughly 30 people for a reunion weekend based at the Yellowhammer and everyone raved about it. The service was great and the hospitality suite with the outside deck overlooking the lake was fantastic. The rooms and the facilities are all first class. We look forward to doing again at the Yellowhammer in five more years!

I hesitate to write this review because the inn is small and reservations are hard to come by, especially on weekends when Alabama plays at home. However, it is one of our favorite places to stay. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel at home. The back deck is lovely for sitting out and having breakfast and a cup of coffee. It is a great place to gather with old friends and meet new ones. The rooms are quite comfortable. We also enjoy having access to the country club for meals.

As other reviewers have said, the location/setting are what sells this place. We loved the beach area at the Captain's Cabin. The room (#204) was nice, but their brand-new wifi didn't work, the air conditioning was anemic, and the mattress was overdue for replacement (two very well-defined depressions in it). Oh, and they overbilled us by $233. The inn definitely caters to its "regulars"--I saw one guest being greeted like a family member by one of the housekeepers. However, the management is much less accomodating to first-timers. Our biggest gripe was the lack of information. Because the inn relies on the nearby yacht club and country club for many of its amenities, they really need to provide a folder in each room detailing how to find these places, what privileges you have there, and how to use them. Nothing was volunteered, we had to pester employees to get details, one fact at a time, as we went along. We would definitely go back, but in spite of the management not because of it.

Your comments make great points and I completely know how your feel and would feel the same way. The service you received is not and never well be our standard. This is truly a special place. I am just sorry that we did not have enough time to explore all the amenities available to the guests. Edwina is awesome!
