“second visit as good as the first”
Reviewed March 19, 2014

A very popular tourist and local restuarant. Everything was good but at the same time, everything we ordered was fried so I dont know if I can give them too much credit or not. The fried fish was excellent. Not rediculously overpriced and there are always some kind of specials but some of the entrees are priced a bit out of range for what they are. All that said, we go back every year we visit. You wont be disappointed.

“Some are good, some not.”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

I have been to several Winzels (Spanish Fort, Mobile-both, Montgomery). I have been well satisfied with the original and Montgomery location but was VERY disappointed with Spanish Fort location. Service was poor and food was lackluster. I live close to the SF location so I have tried it a few times. Go to the one downtown if you want a Winzel's experience. Otherwise, skip it and go to one of many good seafood restaurants in the area.

“Worst seafood I've ever eaten, poor service”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

Wentzell's looks nice enough from the outside, but the service and food were awful and woefully overpriced. It took almost 15 minutes for our server to bring menus and water. It was basically downhill from there..It took another ten minutes for our beverages to arrive and almost another hour for the main course to to be served.
We started out with the fried pickles, which turned out to be the best part of the meal. My wife and I shared a broiled seafood platter, which included shrimp, ousters, scallops, and tillapia. The shrimp were ok, but not well seasoned. The scallops were microscopic in sized and were no too fresh, The tillapia was lifeless and none too fresh either. But it is was the oysters that were a complete disaster. They had been broiled down to nearly dried-out husks and had what was supposed to be some type of garlic/cheese topping. This concoction was almost tasteless and totally dried out. Aside from those fried pickles this meal was a disaster.

“No ambiance-(Eastern Shore location)”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

Food is mediocre. Ambiance is nil - the walls are too light and the lights are too bright. Not appealing at all.

“Overpriced Food + A Rude Manager = Avoid”
Reviewed December 24, 2013

We visited this restaurant on a trip to look around the area. The food was generally good but grossly overpriced. When we tried to take advantage of a well-promoted discount offer the manager treated us like we were stealing the food. We will never go back to this place. Life's too short in an area teeming with good seafood to waste our time and money on this place.
